Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park

Africans from the Northern part of Gold Coast were captured as slaves and brought to this river (Donko Nsuo) to be washed and inspected before being sent to nearby slave castles (Elmina and Cape Coast) to later be forced onto slave ships and sent to the Americas and other Caribbean Islands to work as slaves.

Cape Coast Castle

Cape Coast Castle, through which millions of slaves were shipped to the Caribbean and the Americas, became the seat of British colonial administration until 1877 when government offices moved to Christiansborg Castle in Accra. The Cape Coast Castle Museum is housed in one of the wings of Cape Coast Castle. Cape Coast is a fascinating town to explore, its relative antiquity reflected not only in an endlessly surprising range of architectural styles spanning three centuries, but also in the organic shape of the old town, with roads hugging the curves of low hills. Cape Coast is steeped in history.

Kakum National Park

Kakum National Park is on coast of southern Ghana, in West Africa. It protects an area of rainforest, home to endangered mammals such as forest elephants, bongo antelopes and primates like the Diana monkey. Elmina Castle

Elmina Castle is a white-washed Medieval Castle on the coast of Ghana. It was the first – and for many centuries – the largest, European building constructed in tropical Africa. Yet its grandeur, as well as its picturesque surroundings with blue skies, sandy beaches, and tropical palms, disguise a dark history – Elmina Castle was the last place that thousands of African slaves would ever see of their homeland. Many horrors transpired within the walls of the fortress, which have never been erased by time.

Kumasi Fort - Ghana Armed Forces Museum

The museum features military equipments, artifacts and other items used during the British Asante war of 1990 as well as the 2nd World War. Other collections include war weapons, colors, medals, armored cars, portraits and photographs. This is a source of valuable historical building for referring back to the evolution and development of Ghana under colonial era till the present day.

Manhyia Palace Museum

Manhyia Palace was built by the British in 1925 to receive Prempeh I when he returned from a quarter of a century of exile in the Seychelles to resume residence in Kumasi. It was used by the Ashanti kings until 1974; the current Asantehene now lives in a modern compound behind the museum. All visits start with a 10-minute video telling the story of Asante people, followed by a tour of the palace..

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park

Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, also know as the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park(KNMP) is the last resting place of the first President of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. It is dedicated to him for his outstanding campaign to liberate Ghana(by then Gold Coast) from colonial rule in 6th March,1957. The entrance to the site is from the 28th February High Street just along the coast from Independence Square. It is located directly opposite the old Paliarment House now known as the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice(CHRAJ)

W.E.B. DuBois Center

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was an African-American civil rights activist who became a citizen of Ghana in the 1960s. He was known as the ‘Father of Pan-Africanism’. The centre, where he and his wife once lived, and where they are now buried, houses his personal library, a small museum with a handful of personal effects such as his graduation robes. The couple’s mausoleum is surrounded by Asante stools, a seminar room, a restaurant, a gallery, an amphitheatre and a research centre for Pan-African history and culture.
