Quite fast paced, would not recommend if you have difficulty walking. There are a few steps to be aware of. Our guide, Frank was excellent. Good, light hearted sense of humor. He initially told us he would go at our pace, but quietly kept the pace to a level where we got everything in. He was always ready for questions. Great recommendations for lunch, which we followed, also the light show at the Cathedral. We wouldn’t have been aware of these without this tour. I was born in Manchester but left in 1980, the place has changed so much I will recommend this tour to my siblings.

We booked this tour after taking this company's Quayside tour (which was fantastic). This tour was fantastic as well and gave us an understanding of the city's past, present, and future while visiting the key parts of the city quarter by quarter. The guide Frank is a fabulous guide with superb people skills, just the perfect guide. The tour is wonderful - no other way to describe it. Whether you take this tour your first day in the city, which would be perfect, any day during a visit will enhance your trip enormously.

Monday 9 March, I went on Manchester's 5 Quarters walking tour. I was joined by Malcolm, Julie and Irene they were lovely people. Our guide Frank took us on a wonderous exploration of the sprawling metropolis of Manchester, it was a quick two and a half hours and great value for money (£15). Frank's easy, conversational style made us all feel welcome and included in his broad knowledgeable narrative of sunny Manchester. It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning and zig-zagging between the 5 quarters was eye-opening for me. The Northern, Millennium and Medieval were my favourite's although the Roman Quarter was a real jolt for me as I thought I knew a lot about Manchester. It's worth a visit as you leave with an historical knowledge and a positive possible future view of the city which is marvellous Manchester. Well done Frank and I enjoyed the prestigious 5 Quarters badge, loved it.

We visited Manchester and had very little time here, so wanted to maximise what we could see and learn. We stumbled across the 5 quarters tour and booked the night before. Thank goodness we did! Frank was an amazing, engaging guide and kept what was almost a 3hr tour interesting for our two sons. They have been talking about the tour all day and asking us to quiz them on what we learned, it’s clear how much they have absorbed! We all loved and were amazed learning about the rich history of Manchester and got some great tips about places to circle back to. We were lucky to have a small group and pressed on despite the snowy conditions and the supplementary photos and audio speakers were excellent additions. In the end, we feel sad not to have more time to explore this awesome city!! Thank you Frank!

I've done many walking tours in different cities, and the 5 Quarters Walking Tour in Manchester stands out as one of the very best. From start to finish, it was engaging, insightful, and full of fascinating stories that brought Manchester's history and culture to life. Our guide was exceptional — knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly - and he told it all with great humour and enthusiasm. It was perfect for a visitor like me, here for just a few days and keen to see and experience as much as possible. If you do just one thing in Manchester, make it this tour. You won't regret it!
