I had a great time on this trip and Himalayan partners did a great job of setting it up for me, and supporting me on getting there and getting back. All I had to do was show up and enjoy myself. I did the 2 night/3 days package. Because I bused there and back from Kathmandu, it was more of a 2 night/ one and a half day stay. I was fine with that because my day and a half was packed with activities, but I could see someone else wanting a more leisurely experience and there are longer options. I arrived in Sauraha about 1:30pm, and someone was there waiting to pick me up and take me to Jungle Wildlife Camp. The hotel was beautiful. My lunch was waiting for me. There was a wide variety of dishes on the menu and all the food was pretty good in my opinion. After lunch I had time to clean up before being taken to the elephant breeding center. There I enjoyed seeing the baby elephants playing with their trainers. I returned just in time to watch a spectacular riverside sunset. Then I enjoyed dinner, before being taken to a Tharu culture dance. This was an unexpected, for me, highlight of the trip. It was a really good performance, with lots of energy. I left feeling pretty good and will just say not to miss it. Afterwards, I got to look around Sauraha a bit. The town has a lot to offer. My second day was my safari day. After an early breakfast, I went a guided canoe safari where I saw a wild elephant, a rhinoceros, and a lot of birds. Then I went with these same guides on a nature walk where I saw another rhinoceros and many tiger tracks, unfortunately no tigers. The guides were great- knowledgeable and did there best to help you see wildlife. I would have loved to have seen a tiger, and have heard stories from people who have, but it wasn’t in the cards for me this day. I got back just in time for lunch before my next adventure, a 4 hour jeep safari. I was really excited about this one. It was good. I did see a rhinoceros and a wild elephant and lots of crocodiles. Also the jungle is beautiful to drive around in. I think there is better timing for when I did this though. I think in a warmer part of the year animals would collect near water sources and in the spring the foliage would be less dense and animals would be easier to spot. I still enjoyed myself and saw animals- many many spotted dear. I just think there might be an ideal time to see the most animals. After my safari, I was tired, so I relaxed in my room. The rooms are nice, the staff at the resort are very attentive. It’s a relaxing place, and a proper vacation. They took good care of me. My last day, I left 7:30am after an enjoyable breakfast. They took me right to the bus park and saw me on my way. The buses Himalayan Partners arranged for me were comfortable and had WI-FI. Everything was pretty good I thought.

I went to Australian base camp and Sarangkot for 3 days and 2 nights. It was a wonderful hiking experience amidst nature and mountains. The weather is nice. I like hiking like this a lot. And I hope to go back again.
