  I am pleased to post this review for Mr Sangay Wangdi – my personal guide in February 2026. Any visitor to Bhutan will be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable and a more engaging guide than him ! From the moment you arrive until the time when you depart, you will find that Mr Sangay takes care of all your needs, shows great flexibility and creativity and initiative with the trip itinerary, exhibits a real in-depth knowledge not only of the country’s culture, history and ways of life, but also on how these impact on the daily lives of the citizens. Whilst he is very keen to share everything there is to know about Bhutan, he also shows a very good awareness of what goes on in the rest of the world and his curiosity will keep the conversations going for the full extent of your trip. His level of fitness is excellent (and even more so after our daily calorie-bursting explorations up and down as many mountains as we could find) and I recommend that any potential traveller to Bhutan requests to have Mr Sangay as their personal or group guide – you won’t have to worry or stress about anything !   Our 5 days vacation to Bhutan was quite lively and peaceful. Having travelled to India and Nepal with crowded places and traffic and loud honking sounds of cars and motorcycles, Bhutan was a time of peace and real unwinding. Sangay with his great driver greeted us and we immediately realized that Bhutan is distinct from our recent stops. Our guide wss quite informative, patient, and soft spoken. He followed the itinerary as well as accommodated of needs and interests. His driver was very attentive and kind as well. I highly recommend Sangay, should you decide to visit Bhutan.

  Sangay is an amazing guide who knows a lot about Bhutan’s culture, historical sites and challenging treks/outdoor activities. He is a great person to have along on any adventure you seek and readily answers questions as well as gives helpful advice if asked. Would highly recommend if you want to explore all Bhutan has to offer.

  Sangay was incredibly helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I highly recommend having him as your guide in Bhutan :) He would recommend good local restaurants and will give you a guatanteed authentic bhutanese experience.

  I loved my time in Bhutan with Sangay — he was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and very patient with our group as we traveled around Thimphu and Paro. With a question about local culture, religion, or the business environment, Sangay knew it all! I loved our chats over breakfast and learned a lot from him. Thank you!!

  Sangay gave me and my 15+ person group a fantastic tour of Bhutan - specifically in Thimphu and Paro. I could not have asked a better guide to show me cultural sites like the hike up to and tour of the Tiger's Nest, other cultural sites, local restaurants, and more. He was fantastic in terms of mixing education with fun and always was knowledgeable about what the locals do, which was key for me as a foreign visitor. Lastly, his tours were always well paced and organized. I could not have asked for a better tour guide!

  Sangay was such a wonderful guide -- he'll be the face by which I remember this entire trip (and I'll forever think of him when I hear about Bhutan now!). He was very good at determining what my group was interested in and finding little details along our tour based on our interests. He remembered little things that I was curious about and went out of the way to answer my questions, even trying to find a tea that I liked in Thimphu. He's gentle, perceptive, and a comfortable person to spend an entire week with. Everyone in my tour group agreed that he was our favorite of all the guides that we met on this trip, and we were sad whenever we had to venture out without him! If you want to spend time with a thoughtful, knowledgeable guide, as well as a kind human being, Sangay is a great pick.

  Sangay did an amazing job of showing us around his beautiful country of Bhutan. Whether it was about the nature we saw on our hike up to the Tiger's Nest, the history of the nation, or local culture/traditions, Sangay always had knowledgeable and insightful answers for our questions during the trip. Would 10/10 recommend Sangay to anyone looking to explore Bhutan.

  Had a fantastic time with Sangay and would definitely recommend! We were a group of students and he led us on multiple tours through the course of a week. He was very knowledgeable and spoke to many aspects of the local traditions and history. We toured several monasteries, fortresses, and temples.
