Teotitlan del Valle
Teotitlán del Valle, in Oaxaca, is famous for the elaboration of handmade wool rugs using ancestral pedal loom techniques. What makes these rugs stand out is the use of natural pigments extracted from local plants, minerals and insects, such as cochineal, pomegranate and indigo, which gives them vibrant and long-lasting colors. This tradition, passed down through generations, reflects the rich Oaxacan culture and respect for the environment. Visiting the town is an excellent opportunity to learn about this artisanal process and purchase unique rugs made by the talented local weavers.
Hierve el Agua
We explore the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, where we will spend two hours and thirty minutes to first take a walk around and then refresh in the natural pools that store water with great mineral content. During the hike you will appreciate the different views of the set of waterfalls that exist in the place. You will also find small water springs that give life to the petrified formations. The most amazing part of the place is at the bottom, where you can appreciate the fall of the waterfall and from its base you will be able to capture the best pictures for your memories. When you come back from the hike you can refresh yourself in the pools area or just take the time to meditate and contemplate the beautiful landscape, which is surrounded by mountains that are a magnificent backdrop to the site.

Went on this tour with Pavel as the guide, and it was great! It was jam-packed with exciting stops and engaging information from the guide. At each location, I was able to learn something new, which is what I love most about tours. Highly recommended for a great time.

Our day with Pavel was entertaining, informative, and a lot of fun! In particular his coverage of pre-colonial culture in Mitla gave us a perspective we've never been shown before. For an English speaking traveler with only partial familiarity with the Spanish language we didn't miss a thing due to his clear presentation. We'd be happy to book Zapotecos (and Pavel) again in the future!

A wonderful day to explore quite many different things. For a full experience of hierve el agua, the hike is a must. We arrived at the lunch place at a good time before it got too busy. Our guide Luis was great and tried to share with us a lot of information beyond the places of the tour.

This was truly one of our favorite tours! Don Eric and Fani made everything so enjoyable. We loved every moment of our experience. Just a little tip: if you decide to visit the waterfall at Hierve El Agua, be prepared for the hike back because it was the most challenging part. But overall, everything else was absolutely fantastic!

This was truly one of our favorite tours! Fabi and Don Eric were absolutely wonderful, making the experience even more special. We really enjoyed visiting Hierve el Agua, just a heads-up that the hike down to see the waterfall can be quite challenging. Besides that, this tour was a fantastic adventure—Mitla and its rich history captivated us, and we loved every moment.

I took a tour with my family, it was really informative and entertaining, just two recommendations that i’d like you to add: 1. would be great if you mentioned in the description of the tour that a swimsuit is a good thing to bring since there is an option to swim in the basins at the waterfalls 2. we didn’t enjoy the lunch spot at all - most of the food was gone by the time we got there and the place was too crowded. Would’ve been much better to have lunch at a smaller local spot. Otherwise, we really enjoyed the tour, and Pavel (our tour guide) was great!

Absolutely had a blast. It was a packed schedule . Les and Danny were great. Les provided a lot of background information, which really helped. One thing that could use some tweaks is telling folks where the vehicles are parked. I had to search which tires you in the hot sun especially after a long trek uphill.

Lizette was a fantastic guide. She was knowledgeable and ready to answer questions or search for the answers. The local guides were a wonderful addition and it was important to hear from them. Danny was a reliable driver who expertly navigated the roads. I would take this tour again. First come, first on the bus! Arrive early.
