We had a great experience with Trance Tours! We took the indigenous roots tour as we were interested in learning more about the Tainos (native peoples of Puerto Rico, our ancestors). The trip was beautiful full of amazing views and nice photo opportunities. We had a chance to visor the Caguana Ceremonial grounds in Utuado as well as walk in the footsteps of ancient taints along the river. We also saw unique petroglyphs and had a chance to jump off a large rock into the river (it was a lot of fun!). The farm we visited at the end of the tour was very relaxing, their owners were warm and welcoming. We got a chance to try wild fruit growing along the farm’s terrain and learned a lot regarding sustainable structure building as well as farming. We would love to go back and visit the farm for a soothing massage or interesting class; they offer some cool stuff to do. We felt that this tour gives you a complete, adventure that highlights the natural beauty of Puerto Rico while respecting its resources and unique history. We would recommend Trance tours to anyone looking for a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience in the heart of Puerto Rico.

The best PR tour! We were picked up very promptly and started the route en route to the park. We stopped for a coffee (which was extraordinary) and arrived at the archaeological site. The park is beautiful and well explained. As a Latina, it is always a pride to know archaeological sites of our ancestors and to see on each occasion the great technological, cultural, and astronomical development that each civilization had, also being so in tune and in respect to the nature of each area. After that we followed a river, where we could take a refreshing bath, surrounded by vegetation, butterflies and flowers. We could see our first coquí of the trip in PR (❤️), and a woodpecker. We continued the journey along some vegetated roads and arrived in Utuado at the farm, where we were greeted with a delicious lunch (with fruit juice and chocolate made in the same place), and shown the sustainable building system used on the farm. Everyone was extraordinarily friendly, friendly, fun, attentive, and this is certainly the best tour we did in our days in PR. Very well recommended!! Thanks to the guides for everything! 🧡

I really enjoy the experience. It is interesting to visit the heritage site and visit a river hidden from the road. In addition, the farm to table restaurant has a very friendly host and prepared delicious food for us. She also showed us the adobo house she and her partner built and explained the technique of building the unique house. Overall a great experience

Tristan was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable, funny, and easy to talk to. After a little while it just felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. Thank you showing us things we normally wouldn't have seen on this unique tour! Would definitely recommend!

My Mom and I were very lucky and had our own private tour. We got to see the country area of San Juan. We went to a self sustainable village where these homes were manually built. It was a round house in the woods made out of environmentally sustainable material. Need water, he had plants on the roof and gutters that would reuse the water. I'd enjoy coming back just to live in one of those places. I guess it's on airnb and the owner is a massage therapist. Imagine getting a message right next to the river. The other place we went to was a place that had indigenous museum. It was partly indoors and the rest was outdoors. You had stones outside with different pictures that was used as sundials. It was similar in some cases to the Myan ruins. They also had fields where certain sport games were played. Then just going on the freeway into the country side. The mountains were very breath taking. We had a great time. And we had the best ever tour guide. He texted us to the minute when he was coming. He was very flexible with our trip. While it was an all day trip, it was definitely a once in a life time activity. The only thing we didn't do was swim in the river. But that was okay, I have swam in other rivers in the Carribean. It's not like the your guide is able to control the rain. It rained throughout the day but at least then it was not too hot and humid. It was an overcast day. We have done a number of excursions before. Usually with the cruise line. But sometimes being on an island and not cruising, I appreciate when we have more time to see the sites. The tour guide even went out of his way and took care of breakfast and lunch. I like helping out small businesses when I can. I definitely will be coming back to San Juan. It is also very beneficial when a lot of the people on the island are bilingual. I know very limited Spanish.

This was a fantastic experience! I brought my mother on a trip to learn more about our Taino heritage and to experience more of the Puerto Rican culture - Tristan did not disappoint! Initially I was a bit nervous about the hiking portion and unsure if my mother could handle it - Tristan explained the entire route to me and even had other waterfall options for her. He was incredibly accommodating the entire day. It was incredible to see the Caguana Heritage Center/ archaeological site along with the really interesting sustainable farm. This was a 10/10 experience. Puerto Rico is full of so much beauty beyond the touristy areas - book this tour!

Our trip to Utuado was absolutely incredible and one of the highlights of our time in Puerto Rico! The experience had the perfect balance of history, adventure, and culture. We began at a Taino ceremonial ground, where our guide shared fascinating stories about the island’s indigenous heritage — it really brought the site to life. This is one of the few tours that offers such an in-depth look at Taino history, which made it feel especially unique and meaningful. From there, we cooled off in the river and even climbed a beautiful waterfall, which was both fun and exhilarating. Later, we visited a sustainable farm and learned how the community is preserving traditions while caring for the land — such an inspiring part of the day. What made the experience extra special was our guide, Tristan. Not only was he knowledgeable and welcoming, but he surprised us with a delicious local treat that made the day feel even more authentic and personal. On top of all that, Tristan is great photographer If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to connect with Puerto Rico’s culture, history, and natural beauty, this tour is a must-do!

This was an incredible experience from start to finish. Starting the day with strong Puerto Rican coffee was the perfect kick-off. The renovated museum was eye-opening—I walked away with a deeper understanding of Puerto Rico’s indigenous history and the significance of the archeological site. Visiting the sacred grounds was powerful, and swimming in the river was a refreshing highlight in a quiet, natural spot. Lunch was fresh and delicious, enjoyed in a peaceful setting, and exploring the off-grid farm and adobe homes was really impressive. What I appreciated most was how the day balanced learning, culture, nature, and food—it never felt rushed or forced. It was the kind of experience that leaves you with a lasting connection to the island. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for something meaningful and memorable in Puerto Rico.
