Overnight in Sibiu at 3*** boutique hotel
Biertan Fortified Church
The first important stop of the day is Biertan Village. This UNESCO site is one of the first German settlements in Transylvania. This fortified church, surrounded by three rows of fortifications, was built by the German peasants in Transylvania and was used for nearly 300 years as the residence of the Transylvanian Archbishop. A room in the citadel was used for a long time as a reconciliation place for couples about to divorce (hear the full story on spot).
Sibiu
Before noon, we arrive in Sibiu: the chief city of the Transylvanian Saxons. Take a leisurely walking tour of Sibiu, visit the old surrounding defence walls and the remaining towers each belonging to a certain guild. One of the landmarks of Sibiu is the Brukenthal Museum assembled by baron Brukenthal, governor of Transylvania at the end of the 18th century. The Evangelical Cathedral was completed in its actual shape in 1520, but inside there is an exquisite fresco of the Crucifixion on the north wall of the choir dating from 1445. View the Passage of Stairs linking the Upper town to the Lower town, the 1859 Liar`s Bridge and the Byzantine style Orthodox Cathedral, a replica of St. Sophia in Constantinople.
Transfagarasan Highway
Leave Sibiu and cross the mountains on the Olt River Valley, one of the most spectacular valleys crossing the Southern Carpathians. See TRANSFAGARAS EXTENTION (June to September). Visit Curtea de Arges, the first capital of Wallachia with the old Princely Court and the monastery – the place where three of the four Romanian Kings of the Hohenzollern dynasty are buried. Drive to Bucharest.

I chose this tour based on the positive reviews and was extremely pleased. It couldn't have been better! Ion, our guide, was so friendly and personable and really ensured we saw and experienced the best that Transylvania has to offer. We visited charming villages, hiked amongst the fall foliage, ate the most amazing foods, stayed in really nice hotels, and even saw bears after driving the Transfăgărășan highway. The pace was laid-back and enjoyable, and there was always time for being spontaneous. Honestly, best trip ever! Thanks so much, Ion!!!

Ion Dima/the guide is the best one till date I cam across in Europe as I explored most of the countries in Europe. Ion Dima of Romania Tour Store is very knowledgeable guy and simply the best! He designed our itinerary to suit our interest, weather and available time. He is very friendly to kids and adult as well. He has highest level of patient and at the same time he is professional. I would say if someone want to explore Romania then Ion is the best guy and you can believe him for any and everything. He has suggested the Hotels and Restaurants during our tours which was the best as per our budget and interest. During the complete tour he was as our family member and friend. Salut and thank you Ion for everything!

It was amazing! We travelled with our tour guide, Angelika, to some incredible villages, fortified churches, castles and citadels in Transilvania. Since the travel distance from place to place didn’t exceed two hours, we were able to spend a lot of time in each place and enjoy our guided tour with Angelika or just some free time to explore on our own. The citadels and fortresses were incredible and the castles were breathtaking. We went to museums and interesting attractions, and we definitely had a lot of time for pictures and souvenirs. The hotels were nice as well, clean and very close to (or in) the old town (except in Sibiu, which was about 1km away. We would have liked to be closer to the old town). Overall an amazing experience and we recommend it 100%. Thank you for everything, Angelika!!

I would strongly recommend this tour of Romania, as well as Ion as a guide. We were on the five day tour of Transylvania and Ion kept us captivated the whole time with everything he showed us and talked to us about. The tour was technically about Dracula, and Ion talked to us at length about Vlad Tepes. Even if you are not interested in the mythological creature of Dracula, there was a lot of history about Vlad the Impaler. All of the castles were unique and very interesting in their own ways with lots of their own history. We also stopped in nice towns with their own sights which Ion gave us recommendations about after showing us around. Besides the towns and castles, there were many beautiful sights along the way. As a guide, Ion was very adaptive to what we were looking for. We generally try to explore everything we can while traveling, so he showed us different places and was extremely flexible to let us see everything. If we wanted to pull over somewhere, he would try his best to do it. Once he understood what we might be interested in, he tried to include that in the rest of the trip. He was also very responsive to questions. Overall, Ion made my trip to Romania a very memorable experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking to see the country.

We had the most amazing time in our Transylvania tour a few days ago but it was really amazing thanks to our guide Angelica. She was very cool and knowledgeable, and we discover a lot of cool facts and clear a lot of misunderstanding, about Transylvania's history (especially the myth of Count Vlad). In the days the we tour with her, it's like touring with a friend. We highly recommend Angelica if you want to discover Transylvania. We would like to thank Romania Tour Store, especially Ion, for putting this beautiful itinerary for us and for the flexibility on arranging our tours. We were planning for a long time to visit Romania and all our expectation were met and more and I have to say that the private tour we had was worth every penny of the extraordinary experience you get out of it. Highly recommended.

I would like to thank our guide, Ion, for an excellent tour. This tour was the highlight of our trip to Romania. It put together the major sites of Transylvania in one tour and was exactly what we were looking for. Normally, we would prefer a small group tour, but this private tour worked out quite well. The flexibility of a private tour allowed us an interesting exploration of smaller towns not normally covered and the cost was reasonable for what was included. Ion was knowledgable and flexible. Only complaint was the weather on our first day. I would recommend this tour.
