Wrapping up an incredible 4 days in Fairbanks, chasing the lights. We heard the aurora forecast was good but the temps in Fairbanks were still cold in mid March. Our tour guide recommended Alaska Outdoor Gear rental. Lauryn was amazing she helped us choose the right cold weather gear and we had it delivered to the hotel. We saw the Aurora every night. It was spectacular, and worth the sleepless nights and cold temps. Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental has excellent gear, clean and in nearly new condition. They even gave our son 2 pairs of gloves for price of 1 with the rental. One for play and said keep one pair dry for tours.

We travelled to Fairbanks in March and rented the Canada Goose Expedition Package -40F pkg. It was exceptionally warm and we got to choose our colors. Parkas are very warm and were needed for our snowmobiling and dog sledding adventures. The gears kept us very warm.

We came from Florida to chase the lights. Alaska weather is intimidating and Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental eased our fears. We rented the extreme cold package, which was very much needed when temps were hovering around -30Fs. They gave us wonderful recommendations and even locations and how to chase the lights on our own. We had a great trip.

Needed extreme cold weather gear to chase the lights and snowmachine up in Fairbanks. Alaska Outdoor Gear kept us warm. They layered us up in the North Face McMurdo Parka Bibs and Boots. We handled -40F temps with no problem.

We travelled to Fairbanks for a family vacation during the -40F cold snap in December. Lauryn was wonderful and helped us choose the right cold weather parkas, snowpants and boots. She even had inner jackets to make sure we were very warm. We caught the aurora several nights and it was everything we hoped it would be. Such a great trip. We chose hotel concierge service to return our gear to save time. We were a group Of 12. It was so convenient and cost less than a cab or Lyft.

Visiting Fairbanks in winter can be deceiving — even if you bring ski clothing, it’s often not warm enough for the extreme cold. Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental is an excellent option for anyone who arrives and quickly realizes they need warmer, more serious cold-weather gear. They offer proper parkas, snow pants, boots, and layering options so you don’t have to overpack or buy expensive gear just for one trip. Being able to rent additional layers or a heavier parka makes a huge difference, especially in Fairbanks temperatures. This is a great solution for travelers who want to stay comfortable and safe in the cold without bringing everything with them. Highly recommend keeping them in mind when visiting Fairbanks in winter.

Very friendly service, great quality gear (Northface and Kavik). I got the extreme package even if it’s not that cold since I’m from Hawaii and not used to cold. Gear kept us warm and comfortable for hours standing outside taking Aurora photos. Didn’t have to go warm up in the van even once. Loved that the pants had zippers on the side so we didn’t overheat while riding inside the tour van. Texted the company directly after purchase to coordinate and pay for pick up and drop off.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 We rented our cold weather gear from here and had a great experience. The staff was super friendly and helped us pick from a great selection of quality gear. Everything held up perfectly and kept us warm and comfortable, which made it easy to enjoy the Alaskan outback. We will definitely use them again when we come back in the winter!

We were so glad we rented our gear from Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental. First of all, the owner of the Fairbanks location was so friendly and helpful on the phone. They were able to drop off and pick up our gear at our hotel so we could use it on our first night (late flight arrival time). Then when I needed to swap out my boots for a different fit, they were very accommodating and made it very easy for us to get another pair. We were very pleased with the quality of the gear—everything was super clean and practically new, and the waterproof boots kept our feet nice and toasty even at night walking through snowdrifts. I was glad that we also added the ice spikes -- we did a lot of walking around in the dark looking at the aurora and the spikes helped us feel more sure of our footing on icy patches. Would highly recommend renting gear from them if you want to save on luggage space.
