From first time climbers to competition team kids, there are opportunities for fantastic climbing in Joshua Tree National Park. We have experience guiding families with mixed climbing experience and know the best crags to serve everyone's ambitions! Regardless of your experience level, desires or goals there is a fantastic rock climbing trip ready and waiting for you!!! We have guided ages 2- 80 and have specialty equipment such as tiny rock climbing helmets, sticky rubber baby climbing shoes and full body harnesses for little people or pregnant moms! The 4-Hour Trip is great for people who want to focus on rock climbing. Typically, we keep the approaches short and visit only 1-2 rock formations so that we spend the bulk of your trip climbing as many routes as possible!

What To Expect

Each rock climbing trip is customized to meet the ambitions and skill sets of our guests. Our professionally certified rock climbing guides know Joshua Tree National Park very well and will set up the right routes for you! There are over 9,000 climbing routes in Joshua Tree. From first time climbers, to accomplished climbers, there is something in Joshua Tree for everyone! We have worked with families, ages 2 years old- 80 years. And have specialty children's gear, including small climbing helmets, sticky rubber baby shoes and full body harnesses for smaller climbers. All of our guides have a special knack with working with kids. We are certain we can show your family the BEST time in Joshua Tree National Park.

Stone Adventures were great! The communication before hand was responsive and they answered all my questions for our family climbing adventure at Joshua Tree. The guides Mason and Howard were super patient with my kids and accommodated all our requests. We had a fantastic time and even my elderly mother who sat to watched enjoyed herself. Highly recommend them!

We had a great morning rock climbing! Ryan was a true professional, explaining everything from the plant life to the climbing culture with all of us. We felt extremely safe climbing at Jellystone with our daughters (6 and 9). They both responded differently to the challenge and Ryan was great with all of it. When our younger daughter felt fearful coming down, he was able to support her beautifully. When others in our group were ready for a bigger challenge, he was able to provide it. This was a fantastic way to take advantage of the chance to rock climb at Joshua Tree National Park with younger kids and everyone felt like it was a highlight of our trip. Strongly recommend Stone Adventures for anyone visiting the park.

Our family (mom, dad, 13 yo boy, 11 yo boy) completely recommend Stone Adventures and particularly our guide Seth for a great afternoon on the rocks in Joshua Tree. Seth made us feel comfortable and safe from our initial meeting and gear up at the shop. Once out by the rocks, he answered all of our questions (about ecology as well as climbing) and just had a great rapport with the boys. He was able to change our climbs to easier ones so that we all had success. He was extremely professional with safety and we practiced “falling” before we started so we had trust in him and the climb. (However he could easily lead a group on harder climbs). The attitude was to be safe, try new things and encourage each other. We enjoyed being out there together as a family, cheering each other on. I appreciated that it was just us (not a larger group of strangers). Book directly on website. Talk to them about timing and where to meet - depending on where you are staying getting to the shop may be long. 4 hours was a little fast but we were also tired! Recommend for any level. Pre-teen/teen approved!

Our family just had the most epic morning with Jaden from Stone Adventures! Climbing on the Super Heroes Wall was amazing. And the highlight was probably exploring the Chasm of Doom, which is something we never would have been able to manage on our own. Jaden is totally empathetic and encouraging, and such a great role model for kids. We hope we can come back and climb with him again!

Nick and Ryan were amazing guides. They were so encouraging and patient with the kids (and adults!) They coached our 7 year old who had no problem going up but was intimidated by going down - after going up to help her twice they had her play like Spider-Man only about 10 feet up and she built her confidence. We were up for hiking about 15 minutes from the parking lot, which gets you to less commonly visited climbs. Highlight of our trip and totally worth the price. Our kids are 12, 9 and 7.

Stone Adventures is the best climbing company in the high desert. We have had the pleasure of climbing with them for over 4 years now and each time we experience an epic climbing adventure in various places both in and outside the park. The guides are well prepared and the staff is always accommodating to any changes in our itinerary. I highly recommend Stone Adventures for any climbing adventures.

Having recently returned from another wonderful crossing the country road trip, it is time to highlight those that made my trip most memorable, through writing madness on the internet. Jaden, thanks for an amazing day around JT! My wife and I had a blast with you, and again later that evening. We were hoping you might swing back by. We had such a great time with Alex and Brad. They took a bunch of dopey middle aged guys and put us in some really exciting climbs in a beautiful setting and kept us safe. We had close to zero experience climbing, but these guys had great tips and we learned a lot in just an afternoon. Most of all it was fun and memorable, so worth it.
