What To Expect
Take your family rafting down the Zambezi, spend a day in an incredible river with your kids. Paddle a distance of between 16-23km depending on the water levels & enjoy a barbecue lunch on top of the Batoka Gorge. Scull through a series of Class 1-4 rapids with our experienced guides steering you through the onerous rapids of the Zambezi reckoned as a premier river for whitewater rafting. You will not only relish the adrenaline pumping thrill of this activity but you will also marvel at the stark, sheer beauty and tranquility of the amazing Batoka Gorge. We run family trips on a STERN MOUNT RAFT with a frame and 2 big wooden oars to give a guide full control of the raft. Guests have an option of paddling through some rapids or just enjoy holding on the rope. For kids we have special handle straps made in USA whereby kids sit in the middle & hold on but they can try paddling small rapids. Most rapids on this river are run on 2-3 different options. Clients may choose an option but the guide`s decision is final especially if we have little kids. e.g if a rapid on the left is a level 2, on the center a level 3 & on the right level 4, the guide will choose the option for a best run.

5.00Excellent excursion and definitely my personal favourite activity at Vic falls! Our family of four went on the half day family trip as the water was quite high! Our guide was amazing and we never felt unsafe. I was aware that we will be climbing down a gorge at the start and again climb (very steep) at the end. I am not good with heights but our guide, OG helped me to the top! Thank you so much for everything!

5.00Experience of a lifetime rafting the Zambezi and soaking up the incredible scenery! Tambu and his amazing team made this one of our best memories of Victoria Falls. Very professional, friendly and funny. An exhilarating and exciting time whilst also feeling safe and very well looked after the whole way through. Very impressed with the experienced and personable crew, as well as the photography and videos we got. Would not go anywhere else, and highly recommend. Thanks so very much guys!

5.00This was excellent! We went as a family of 5 including our 14 year old. We went at low water level so did all 21 rapids over a full day. As an extra we swam under the Falls themselves at the start - this was other worldly and sensational. A tricky scramble across wet rocks and then hammered in the plunge pool whilst looking directly up at the falls. The rapids themselves are sensational. Just magical. It’s a tough walk down/ up the gorge to get there and hard work but simply great fun. As a company they were excellent. Collected us from our hotel and managed us through. Safety was good and the most important person our pilot was excellent - safe, big boat and guided us through. Great with teenagers too. Not top end glam on t shirts, food and equipment but all good. We would definitely do this with them again

5.00We had an unforgettable day white water rafting on the Zambezi River with our family (kids 15, 14, 10), and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Shockwave was outstanding—professional, well organised, and extremely safety-conscious. They were particularly amazing with our kids, making sure they felt comfortable and included throughout the entire adventure. The guides were not only skilled and knowledgeable about the river but also fun and engaging, which made the trip both thrilling and fun for everyone. Myself and two of the kids even fell off the raft at one point, and surprisingly, that ended up being their favorite part of the whole trip! The guides handled it so well, keeping everything fun and safe, turning it into a memorable moment we’ll be talking about for years! This is without a doubt the kids favourite activity in Victoria Falls and Shockwave were outstanding. I highly recommend.

5.00Communication from the start easily accessible and excellent via WhatsApp and later email. Payment easy. Transfers from lodge happened seamlessly. Interaction with lady at the office lovely (sorry I didn’t get her name in all the preparation). We were with our two sons (11 & 12 yrs - one with a broken arm!) so i think that is why we joined the rafting a little later and further along at rapid 11. Transfer took us to top of climb down with reliable guide showing the way. We were then met and briefed well by Pumba (THANK YOU) Joined the raft with OG as guide/captain! Rapids 11-24. OG super calm and experienced. Another trainee and safety kayak in the water together with Pumba. Highlight was floating and swimming down the river in our life jackets for one stretch. Felt like heaven. Rapids were navigated beautifully and safely. Steep climb up at the end for sure. We wire rock shoes. I would say best is old trainers/takkies for the whole day that you can happy to swim and hike in. Rock shoes were my I but a bit slippery for the hike. Lunch and cold drinks were most welcome! And delicious! THANK YOU. Respect that the office and vehicles are not the fanciest: but the rafts are great quality and in excellent condition and guides/safety staff of the highest standard. Priorities are straight. The ONLY thing I would suggest is re-introducing the whole crew clearly when you have rafters joining halfway. We weren’t sure who the other guys were besides OG and Pumba because we hadn’t been there from the start.

5.00The experience we had with this group was amazing. The rafting itself was immensely fun and thrilling. We had two boats because of the size of our family, which included 6 kids under the age of 14. So if you have younger kids, you can still do this. The bigger challenge for some of us was the hike down to and up from the river to the top. Just know that it will kick your butt, and it is a climb. You do need to be in pretty good shape to manage it. You feel rewarded at the end, but there are a few traitorous parts. The guides are fantastic. Tip them well. Thank you, TT, JB, Mr. Nice Guy, and everyone who helped make this a phenomenal experience for our families.

5.00What a great trip! With my two sons (12-13 year) going down the rapids was superb!! Very friendly and professional staf, they are very careful with the kids. Rock jump, swimming, jokes, paddling, great lunch, lots of water, great staff, safe, good gear for kids etc If I come back to Vic falls you will see me again shockwave adventures!!
