During this tour, you will be taken by our experienced local guide to the heights of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range.
You will see the change in the vegetation with the mountain’s altitude. Giant, centuries-old pine trees and expanses of yellow bamboo mark the higher reaches of our climb, and we may see mountain goats and langur monkeys along the way.
This climb is a challenge for you to break your limits. However, don’t worry. With the support of the porters, you will be guided by our dedicated guide through each specific step to conquer the roof of Indochina.
What to Expect
The peak is on the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, a nature reserve. It protects the great diversity of animal and plant life, including over 100 hundred varieties of orchids that flourish in this unique ecosystem. You can see the vegetation change as you trek higher, culminating in a forest of dwarf bamboo near the top.

My daughter ( 25)and I (54)the Fransipan hike with a very experienced guide Pau who was exceptional. He shared such insight into the nature around us. The hike requires a good level of fitness and is very steep with ladders and steps in the last 2 km. We had beautiful weather and was very cold at base camp. Was a tough day but every step worthwhile. We cabled car down. The experince and dealing with Trekking Tour Sapa was a perfect 10. All arranged in March and all plans worked like clock work. We did a 12km the next day along rice paddies and 3 villages with Dew which was stunning. Thrilled we used this company which also gave peace of mind on case of a medical emergency. Just AWESOME

The hike was challenging and rewarding and our guides supported us very well. We also took additional cultural and outdoor hiking treks with Sapa Trekking. Mei, our guide, was excellent because of her cheerfulness and knowledge.

It was a cloudy day but still worth it! Great tour with a very friendly and fun guide. Thanks to the guide we got to non-touristy places and walked along the locals. I wouldn't have missed this

I climb very hard for a few miles. All you do is climb stairs. When you get to the second camp the guide, Chu, prepares me a delicious meal to recover energy and reach the top. Very nice experience.

What an experience! This trek is really challenging but our guide Chu was so patient and encouraging we all made it to the top - to our delight we got medals. On the way up we were in forest with streams, flowers and spice plants that Chu pointed out. We climbed up natural rock ladders, steps and fixed metal ladders, it was wet and we were in a cloud most of the time but that did not matter as it was us verus the mountain. The last couple 1km is surreal, after 10km of mountain trekking emerge at cable car station and rest of trek up steps with all the people who are very clean and well dressed after coming up the cable car. I took the cable car down with are 2 younger children age 11 & 14 - technically you must be 16 to climb up through the national park but after much discussion our guide sorted a wavier where we agreed the recommendation was everyone should be 16 and we took complete responsibility for those under 16. My husband and eldest son climbed down - they both felt it was nearly harder going down than up - we strongly recommended anyone with bad knees take the cable car down. This will definitely be a lasting family memory.

The views are amazing, especially from the fansipan! Love the freshness of the air too.. So So was our guide for the whole day, she’s very knowledgeable and engaged (we found some other guide were not so much). She also made sure all members in my family always in check (she gave us rain coats when suddenly it rains hard), and explained meaningful spots throughout our trekking from Y Linh Ho and Lao Chai villages all way up to fansipan.

Amazing solo hike with Chu. Great guy and really good English. We hiked up in 3 hour 24 mins and then I got the cable car down for the views. Great company, really responsive and I would 100% recommend.

Fansipan hike, a private hike tour organised by my hostel, paid $75 which included all hiking cost: private guide, motorbike transfer to Tram Ton pass, national park entry fees, lunch/water/coffee for the day. Additional cost to consider - > cable car ride from Fansipan to Sapa (VND800-850k, card payment possible). The hike: since I've read all kinds of mixed reviews about the difficulty level of this hike, I felt like I needed to write a review from a more experienced hiker's point of view. -> at the time of hike, I'm 41, doing cardio exercise 3-4 times per week but some hiker groups we passed by had clients with a generally average fitness level, they walked slower but all reached the top eventually. -> to consider: good grip on shoes - rocky path and stairs continuously going up, often steeper bigger steps, challenging for knees and ankles. a healthy heart without any pre existing conditions is essential. -> if you've been doing hikes in the mountains previously, this is "just" another longer hike, challenging but not too tiring (just know your pace) and there are no dangerous sections where being scared of heights could pose a risk (no walks by edges of massive drop offs or anything similar). Additional ladders are installed along the way to manage inclines across boulders easily. At least one walking stick (I used a bamboo stick and kept the other hand free to grab on to railings, rocks/roots) is super helpful to take some weight of the legs, good grip on shoes needed due to rocks and moist areas (I had cheaper trail running shoes), plenty of water, maintain reasonable pace that suits your breath and heart rate, take water breaks. Once you reach the base camp at 2800m above sea level, have a good lunch and coffee and you'll be able to enjoy the last section of the hike. Also latest at this stage, you might appreciate a thin windstopper/waterproof jacket and potentially another longsleeve underlayer. It was windy at times ut we had no rain. Enjoy the views without fog and take pics before reaching the top as you might not see anything once there. Be ready for many tourists at the top who arrive there by cable car. Enjoy your Tram Ton pass to Fansipan hike 👍😊 It's beautiful and definitely worth doing.

Great tour guide, definitely recommend. The climb up can be a bit challenging. For the way down the cable car was a nice option but cost an additional 800,000 dong. Overall great experience
