Join us for this extraordinary experience of the Art and Architecture of New York's Financial District and Ground Zero! At the southern tip of Manhattan, east and west sides of the island converge in the stunning eruption of skyscrapers, defining New York’s iconic skyline. During our Financial District Tour, we will explore the dynamic contrasts of old and new in this part of the city by examining its distinctive architecture, which speaks to New York’s colonial past as well as showcases some of its boldest contemporary developments. Key sites that will be discuss include Battery Park City, Wall Street, Frances Tavern, Stone Street, Trinity Church, World Trade Center, the 9/11 memorial, Fulton Station, and the revitalization of the East River waterfront.

Excellent and informative. Ivan was very knowledgeable and really seemed to enjoy sharing what he knew. He was very engaging and welcomed conversation and questions. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves and will definitely join another one (or two or three) of their tours. Highly recommend.

This NYC Architecture Financial District tour was exceptional from beginning to end. Starting at Castle Clinton and finishing at the World Trade Center, the route told a clear and fascinating story of New York’s architectural evolution. Ivan our tour guide was outstanding—knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about the city’s history and design. The explanations of the Financial District’s buildings, urban planning, and historical layers were insightful and easy to follow. The highlight of the tour was the focus on the Oculus. Ivan did an excellent job explaining its design, symbolism, engineering challenges, and place within the rebuilt WTC complex, which gave us a whole new appreciation for the space. Standing inside the Oculus after hearing its story was truly impressive. The tour was well paced, informative, and thoughtfully concluded at the WTC site. This experience greatly deepened our understanding of NYC architecture and history. Highly recommended for anyone interested in architecture, design, or New York City itself.

This was my second tour with Ivan and I was equally excited! As a native New Yorker, I have been to most of the places on the tour, but Ivan brings new knowledge and perspective that makes the experience anew. These familiar places hold secrets that I wasn't aware of and I so glad I now know them. Makes for great party conversations!

Great tour from a very well educated professor of architecture. Reccomend for NYC locals and visitors alike. We had the chance to learn about various decades of the city, different styles and the history behind development laws / how they factor into the city’s growth. Ivan was great.

I have got a much better understanding of the history of New York and the development of the city from the very beginning up to present days. On the top of that we saw some wonderful examples of different styles of architecture both from the past centuries and the modern ones. Ivan is a great company besides being a guide with a great expertise on the subject. His passion for the architecture is contagious which made the tour a wonderful experience.

My husband and I did two Build Tours during our recent trip to NYC which were both excellent. We did the Wall Street and Financial District Tour followed by the Upper East Side Tour both which Ivan the founder of the business led himself. The Wall Street Tour provided an overview of the history of the settlement of New York and then a flyover lesson of architectural history in a practical context whilst getting a taste for some of the sights of the city that I hadn’t seen yet, this having been my 5th visit to the city. The Upper East Side Tour was just as good and provided further history of the area and the buildings. Definitely recommend - suggest visitors start with the Wall Street and Financial District Tour.

Ivan was incredibly articulate in sharing the rich history and intricate architectural details of the buildings, clearly drawing from his extensive background and deep passion for architecture. His ability to bring the structures to life through storytelling made the tour both educational and inspiring. I walked away with a newfound appreciation for the built environment and the layers of meaning behind every design choice. Such a rich educational experience! Ivan is an extremely knowledgeable guide, providing details on buildings, streets, architects, art and real estate. This tour spans city history from its origin to the most recent construction. Enjoyed every minute and will look forward to more Build Tours the next time I am in NYC.

I had an amazing experience on the architectural building tour in the Financial District of New York. The tour was incredibly well-organized and offered a deep dive into the history and evolution of some of the city’s most iconic structures. The Financial District’s towering skyscrapers and intricate designs were awe-inspiring. Our guide Ivan was extremely knowledgeable, sharing fascinating details about the architecture’s blend of historic and modern elements. Walking through Wall Street, we gained a new appreciation for the art deco styles and innovative designs that shaped the skyline. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants a deeper understanding of New York’s architectural gems, particularly in the heart of the Financial District.
