Galleria dell'Accademia
Get picked up at your centrally-located Florence hotel by your guide and walk together towards the Accademia Gallery, one of the city's top museums. Bypass the long queues with skip-the-line tickets. The main draw of the Accademia is Michelangelo's 'David.' The statue dominates the museum's central gallery; this unique work of art has become the symbol of Renaissance splendor. Take the time to gaze upon this masterpiece and admire its beauty from every perspective. Michelangelo was still in his early 20s when he carved the statue from a single block of Carrara marble. It's 17 feet (5.17 meters) tall, and represents the Biblical hero, David, who slayed Goliath. It was unveiled in 1504 and soon after came to symbolize the defense of civil liberties embodied by the Florentine Republic. In addition to 'David,' the Accademia also has several unfinished Michelangelo sculptures, plus a collection that includes works by Botticelli, Paolo Uccello, Andrea del Sarto, and more. Enjoy insights about the artwork on display from your guide throughout the tour.

Bruno, our tour guide was great. Very fun and informative, he was very knowledgeable about all the art and we learned so much. Also, was helpful in answering questions. Seeing 'the David" in person was amazing. Overall, our party had a great time!

Carlos was wonderful. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable (he's a native Florentine) he was also very careful to engage every member of our group of 4. He shared fascinating historical tidbits and did so with Italian charm.

Loved the skip the line Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo’s David Tour. Impressive collection of art and sculpture of David. Enjoyed the sculpture and the musical rooms too. Liked the fact that this gallery wasn’t as busy as the Cathedral and other monuments we toured. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable too. Meeting point was easy to find and for a 8:00 meeting time, it was a safe and easy walk.

Leonardo was our guide. Do not settle for less. Request Leonardo. We were staying at the Saint Regis and Leonardo used our location as an opportunity to see other interesting sites on the way. He took us by the oldest pharmacy in the world, the oldest building in Florence, the Piazza della Republica, and the Piazza del Duomo where the Florence Cathedral. All of this on the way to give us historical content on the way to see the David. He was full of terrific information and spoke perfect English. The David was spectacular. Seeing it in person was breathtaking. It stands almost 16’. No pictures in books can give you any idea. I’m serious when I say this, a private tour with Leonardo is worth whatever the cost. Bravo Leonardo!

Leonardo was the highlight of our visit to Florence! We were there with a group of 12 friends. We were running a bit late so he met us at the restaurant that we were having lunch at and told us to take our time and he waited outside. He proceeded to take is on a walking tour that was both informative and entertaining. No easy task! One of the couples in our group went back again for another tour with Leonardo a couple of weeks later with a different group. they said that he gave them a completely different tour that was equally interesting. Leonardo is the best!
