What To Expect
We are based in the city of Bariloche, in the heart of Nahuel Huapi National Park, Patagonia, Argentina. Experience fly fishing in one of the most beautiful and pristine waters of Patagonia on the Limay River. We will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 a.m. and drive to the river. Once there, we’ll launch the boats and get ready for an exciting day of fishing. Both rainbow and brown trout can be found in these waters. At midday, your guide will set up a riverside lunch. You’ll enjoy appetizers, fresh salads, and a delicious Argentine-style grilled steak, accompanied by beverages and an excellent Malbec wine. After lunch, we continue fishing until approximately 6:00 p.m., returning you to your accommodation around 7:00 p.m. All of our full-day and half-day trips are private and suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. We provide all necessary fishing equipment at no extra cost, including waders, wading boots, rods, reels, lines, and flies.

The fishing is amazing, the food is amazing, and the friendliness you feel from all who work with him is incredible. Special shoutout to Dante who was such an awesome guide. Five stars!

5.00My wife and I are experienced and avid fly fishers and this was our first time fishing in Patagonia. We cannot recommend Southern Rivers Patagonia enough (11/10), it was one of the best guided fishing experiences we have ever had, from planning through fishing. Our goals were to fish while visiting with family in Patagonia and staying in Bariloche. We couldn't fish consecutive days, so Lucas and the Southern Rivers team did a phenomenal job of working with us to plan multiple locations and days around our commitments. We particularly appreciated the team's attention to detail in making their recommendations for where and when we fish to maximize success. We fished three separate days on Rio Limay, Rio Manso, and Lago Hess with our guide, Dante. We cannot recommend Dante enough, he is an excellent guide. He was patient and skilled at putting us on fish. Each day we had phenomenal opportunities at huge trout on dries and streamers. Each location was unique and fished differently. Gear (waders, boots, rods, flies, etc.) was included and of excellent quality. The fly line and rod pairings, in particular, felt excellent. Finally, I don't normally consider food when booking fly fishing trips, but the lunches included in the trip were so excellent they require a mention. Each day we would stop for lunch and cook a full meal on a gas grill, with dessert! The meals were unexpectedly lavish and excellent. We will fish with Southern Rivers again when we return to Bariloche.

5.00Took a day trip on the Limay with our guide, Juan. Excellent in all respects! Southern Rivers pays attention to detail, everyone speaks fluent English, safety is emphasized, and our shore lunch was impeccable! Great wine, steak, appetizers, and conversation. Juan is an excellent fisherman and teacher, no hard sell, he puts you in the best position to hook fish. Actually, this was more of a pleasure cruise than a fishing trip, but SR is versatile, thus you can have whatever you wish, from hard-core dawn-to-dusk fishing to a languid float featuring good wine, good conversation, and fine companions! Highly recommend Southern Rivers no matter your age, skill level, or anything else. These guys are EXCELLENT!!

5.00this was a very good trip. the guides were very good, knowledgeable about the river. they were also very patient with the beginners Food was excellent. all of it cooked at the campsites Lunches were great. Wine, cheese, meats etc on all a table with a tablecloth.

5.00The truth is I had an amazing time. It was an experience I will remember for a long time: fishing, landscapes, impeccable organization and, above all, the good vibe of the whole team. You can see the passion and dedication with which they make each outing, and that makes a big difference. I felt super cared for and enjoyed every moment, from the launches in the river to the talks at the end of the day.

5.00Our family had an incredible experience with Southern Rivers Patagonia Fly Fishing!! We fished two days and had amazing days both times. They were so good with our boys (ages 13,11, 11) helping them with technique casting and just having fun. I highly recommend for anyone looking to experience one of the greatest aspects of Patagonia/Bariloche.

5.00There are several years that we travel together with my dad in search of the migratory browns of the limay at the end of the season, and always with Lucas and his team of southern rivers. This particular year the river was hard, but thanks to the constant effort of the guide, who kept looking for them adjusting all the details, the river paid the effort with a beautiful migratory. Many thanks to all southern rivers, who not only make an immense effort to make fishing happen but also attend to every detail so that the days on the river are unmatched.
