I'm a Glasgow-born chef and I lead food tours of this wonderful-but-underrated city. I'm a chef who has worked in some of the city's best dining spots, cooked at Scotland's first Michelin two-star restaurant, and moonlighted in stand-up comedy. Both Glasgow and Scottish food don't get the attention they deserve, and I aim to show people another side to the city and its unique cuisine. Although my tours use food as the jumping-off point, it's not entirely about eating. We talk about Glasgow's history and its role in the British Empire, the city's rough-and-tumble culture, and even learn some Glaswegian slang. I led food tours in Cambodia for many years and am delighted to be back in my home town, sharing with visitors the city that I love.

What we expected to be a pleasant afternoon of local food turned into one of the highlights of our entire trip. Stephen’s knowledge of Glasgow’s history, culture, people, and sense of humor brought the city to life in a way no guidebook ever could. We covered far more of the city than we anticipated, and every stop added another layer to our understanding of what makes Glasgow such a unique and fascinating place. And then there was the food. This wasn’t tourist food dressed up as local cuisine, it was the real Glasgow, the dishes that generations of Glaswegians have loved and that tell the story of the city itself. Everything was delicious, authentic, and generously portioned. Come hungry, you will need to. By the end of the tour, we felt less like visitors and more like we had been given a personal introduction to the soul of Glasgow. Stephen was outstanding, and we would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to truly experience the city rather than just see it.

Our time with Steven felt more like visiting a friend than being on a food tour. We tried some traditional spots, he gave us history not only of the food put his personal perspective and memories. It was a fantastic and delicious way to eat our way through Glasgow!

We had a great tour with Steven. To begin with, he communicated directly with us prior to the tour and followed up after the tour, which added a personal touch that we appreciate. On the tour, we not only learned about Scottish food, but also about the people, their history, and traditions. When I visit a country for the first time, I hope to walk away with at least a basic understanding of the history of the people and how it shapes the way they currently live their lives. I really felt that Steven's tour accomplishes that. If you're going for the food alone, you won't be disappointed. However, you'll get so much more. We also appreciated Steven's recommendations for restaurants and other attractions. I highly recommend Steven's tour to anyone visiting Glasgow.

We booked this tour based upon having a chef highlight his as well as local favorites. You’re not going into high-end establishment. Rather, we ate as locals. Fried pizza (it’s a thing) and fried haggis, lentil soup (seriously yummy), cullen skink and smoked salmon, minced meat at the Tea Room, square meat breakfast sandwiches, all finished with chocolates and sweets. Portions were huge! Our group was small which led to great conversations. Above all - Steven was amazing! We learned about the history and culture of Glasgow. We even got food recommendations for our trip further North. Would highly recommend this tour

The food tour was fantastic! A great start to our trip. Steven our guide was so personable and fun to hang out with. He answered all of our questions and gave us so much information about Glasgow. The foods that we ate were delicious and it was a great introduction to the foods of Scotland.

Glaswegian for a day! Would highly recommend taking a tour with Patter&Scran! We had a great tour with Steven. Not only did we get to experience local food and drink of Glasgow (e.g., pizza crunch iykyk), but he was also extremely knowledgeable about Glasgow's history, architecture, and Scottish culture in general. He was kind, friendly, timely, and answered all our (many) questions. Plus the food was delicious! The whole experience felt very authentic for our small party of three Americans (2 adults and 1 infant). Just wish we had more time available to spend in Glasgow! If you're thinking about taking this tour, do it!
