I visited in October and joined Akihiro for a “forest bath” hike near Odawara—it was everything I hoped for! The other participants canceled, so it became a private tour, which made the peaceful, scenic hike even better. Akihiro’s knowledge of the area and history was excellent, lunch at a local teahouse was delicious, and ending the day with a relaxing onsen soak was absolute bliss. A perfect escape from the city—highly recommend!

The day was perfect for a nice walk up towards a very famous temple, forest, bathing, good exercise, beautiful temple shrines and buildings made of Cedar and Cypress wood. Ending with the delicious lunch at a local tea house.

We had a fantastic time on our forest bath. Akihiro is very knowledgeable and great at telling the stories of the rich history of Hakone. My wife and I saw many beautiful scenes and got great pictures taken of us! We absolutely loved the entire experience. If you’re staying near Hakone (we were in Odawara and it’s a short train ride away) I fully recommend this. Thank you Mr. Akihiro for the great day!

We had a very pleasant gentle climb through the light dappled forest of cedar and cypress. We visited a working zen Buddhist temple set in beautiful gardens, and then had lunch followed by a relaxing soak in the onsen. Aki was a very informative host and took good care of us, even providing chocolates and a selection of hot drinks including green tea and lattes. Highly recommended.

The hike was incredible with gorgeous scenery. Our tour guide had a great knowledge of the area and the temple we were visiting. It was easy to keep pace, and our tour guide didn't push us to do anything we would find difficult. The tour guide was extremely friendly and easy to get along with as well.

Akihiro-san was an experienced guide and tailored it to my interest (I was the only one on this hike). He is knowledgable of the mountain, the cedar forest and the stories of the temple. It was hot and humid during summer but I can imagine how this would be completely different in Spring or with the Autumn colors. I would definitely come again. And yes, the onsen was the perfect end to the day!

Akihiro is a really nice companion, there were only two of us that day and it was a really great tour! We took a short train ride and ended up in a small town where the climb began. It was pleasant and Akihiro also took photos along the way. There was some interesting information about trees, temples and Japanese customs and when we arrived at the temple, we could understand very well why this temple had so much Japanese mysticism. The stories surrounding the temple were really exciting and Akihiro even helped us translate our predictions. We then had something delicious to eat together before visiting the onsen and then he and my friend went to the natural onsen and I relaxed outside on a lounger. On the way back we were allowed to use the shuttle bus from the top of the mountain (where the onsen was) to the train station and were able to end the visit in a relaxed manner. All in all, a wonderful tour and a great contrast to Akihabara and Co.

Forest bathing with Akihiro was the perfect way to escape the noise and bustle of Tokyo for a day. The forest air was so cool and fresh, and conversations with Aki were so educational. The temple was beautiful and has an interesting history. And the onsen visit was the perfect way to fully relax after all the walking. It was my first onsen visit, and Aki gave me an overview of the facilities and rules to help me navigate. Lunch at the onsen was delicious (I recommend the ginger pork), and after a soak we took a shuttle back into town to catch the local train. It was the perfect day trip from Tokyo, and Akihiro was a wonderful guide. I can't recommend this experience enough.
