Forest skiing is an ancient and traditional way of moving in snow-covered forests. While the regular cross-country skis are used on maintained ski tracks, forest skis offer a peaceful and silent way of moving even in deep snow. Our guide will take you to Ounasvaara area few kilometres outside the city center, show you how skis and ski poles are used and lead you into the snowy forest. Take an opportunity to observe animal footprints and get to know the Lappish winter nature as its best. In the middle of the trip we will take a break and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows.

We had a fantastic time forest skiing, even with the unusual February weather of 2°C and rain! It was great to learn this different style of skiing, and the guide provided excellent instructions, making it easy to get the hang of it. The peacefulness of moving through the snowy landscape was a unique experience, and we really appreciated the chance to observe nature up close. While we would have loved to go further off-track, the wet conditions made that a bit tricky. Still, the experience was well-organized, and the hot chocolate break was a cozy touch. Overall, a fun and memorable activity—highly recommended for anyone looking to try something new in Lapland!
