After its birth in the 1840s, and especially between 1866 and 1890, drovers ran millions of cattle through Fort Worth on to the Red River, winding their way north to the rail heads in Abilene, Kansas via the Chisholm Trail.You will feel like you go back in time and wetness Daily Longhorn Cattle Drives. 5.00We had a wonderful trip with our guide, Orlando, who brought the experience to life with engaging storytelling and thoughtfully chosen music. The drive to Fort Worth was quick, and our first stop was the Water Gardens, where we had plenty of time to explore while Orlando provided an excellent tour. Next, we visited the JFK monument before heading to the Stockyards. After a guided tour, we had about an hour and twenty minutes to explore on our own and watch the cattle drive—brief but impressive. Although we encountered some traffic on the way back, the return trip flew by thanks to Orlando’s informative narration about the state, its history and culture, and a wonderful music playlist, introducing us to Charlie Crockett’s music.
