Cossit House Museum
Built in 1787, Cossit House is one of Nova Scotia’s earliest examples of neo-classical Georgian architecture. This one-and-a-half-story, wood-framed home was originally constructed with timbers from New England, assembled on-site in Sydney. Its exterior features a rubble-stone foundation, a gable roof, and six-over-six wooden windows, typical of the period. Inside, notable features include a central hallway plan and paneled walls in the front hall, reflecting its historic character. Though it has changed ownership and undergone renovations over the years, the house has been restored to its appearance during Rev. Cossit’s residence (1787–1800). Today, Cossit House and its surrounding grounds are recognized as a provincially designated heritage site.

Amninder was an awesome tour guide—so knowledgeable and incredibly accommodating. Since the Fortress of Louisbourg wasn’t fully open yet, he didn't let that dampen our day. He safely managed our time perfectly, ensuring we spent every minute exploring. He drove us out to the beautiful Mira Gut Beach and even took us on a wonderful small town tour of Louisbourg because we had extra time. Plus, having the fortress admission fully covered by Shuttle Tours made it totally hassle-free. Five stars all the way for Amninder and this top-tier company!

I honestly can’t recommend this shuttle tour enough—it made our entire trip to Louisbourg so much better. From the second we were picked up, everything felt easy and well-handled; the van was super clean and comfortable, but it was our driver who really made the experience. They shared so many cool local stories and bits of history on the way down that we felt like experts before we even reached the fortress gates. It was such a relief not to deal with the headache of driving or finding a parking spot, and being dropped off right at the entrance was a huge plus. If you’re looking for a friendly, stress-free way to see the site, these are the people to go with!

I recently used OVERSEAS taxi service while traveling overseas, and I was thoroughly impressed. The driver was punctual, polite, and very familiar with local routes. The car was spotless and comfortable, and the fare was reasonable compared to other options I checked Such as other local companies like city wide and preferred.
