  My wife and I had one genuinely unpleasant experience during our trip through Cape Verde, and it was with this freediving school. After a week of messaging directly with Evgeny, who confirmed the course price as €95 per person (matching what was written on his own website), we expected at least a straightforward and honest service. Unfortunately, that’s not what we encountered. The course itself was poorly delivered. Explanations were vague and rushed, and my wife’s attempts to get clarity were met with irritation and outright dismissal. It’s incredibly difficult to feel confident with a new skill — especially one involving depth, equalisation and breathing techniques — when questions are treated as an inconvenience. She ended up not doing the water section at all because she simply didn’t feel safe or supported. Then came the part that completely ruined the experience: the price suddenly jumped from the agreed €95 to €135 each. A different price list, a different webpage, and not a single mention of this change until the moment we were expected to pay. Even after showing the WhatsApp conversation and the original website he had sent, the explanation given was a vague “mistake.” We were charged €80 more than what had been agreed in writing. We travelled across three islands and met some of the warmest, most genuine people you could hope for. Sadly, this freediving experience stood out for the wrong reasons. It was the only time we left feeling misled, disappointed, and pressured into paying far more than we should have. Based entirely on what happened to us, I strongly recommend booking with a different freediving operator. There are other schools on the island run by people who communicate clearly and treat visitors with honesty and respect. Our advice: go elsewhere.
