Castle Of The Livonian Order In Sigulda
At the Castle of the Livonian Order in Sigulda, travelers will step into the medieval past of Latvia. This 13th-century fortress, originally built by the Livonian Brothers of the Sword, offers panoramic views over the Gauja River Valley and insights into the region’s military and religious history. Visitors can walk through the restored towers, climb the fortress walls, and explore exhibition spaces that showcase medieval weaponry, daily life in the order, and archaeological findings. The guide will share stories about battles, sieges, and the strategic importance of this site during the Crusader era in the Baltics. It’s a powerful start to understanding the layered history of Sigulda and a perfect photo stop with dramatic views of the surrounding national park. The territory of the Livonian Order's Sigulda Castle is an ideal spot to admire the beautiful landscapes of the Gauja Valley.
Gutmanis Cave
At Gutman’s Cave, travelers will explore the oldest and largest cave in the Baltic region — a natural wonder carved into sandstone by thousands of years of water erosion. The site is not only geologically impressive, but also steeped in Latvian legend. Your guide will share the tragic and romantic tale of the Rose of Turaida, a 17th-century love story tied to the cave, which has made it a symbolic place of remembrance and myth. The walls of the cave are covered in centuries-old inscriptions, some dating back to the 1600s. Visitors can walk inside the cave, feel the cool air from its spring, and imagine the legends that have echoed through this mystical site for generations. It’s an atmospheric stop that blends nature, folklore, and history in one unforgettable moment.

Amazing experience! We were lucky enough to have our trip while snowing, and got to see the castles in a beautiful setting, but in any case, the experience is amazing. Our guide, Maria, was absolutely incredible, very talkative and friendly, gave us very interesting information about the history of the castles and the area, as well as the broader history of Latvia. Also, enjoyed visiting the bobsleigh court.

Edĩte was an excellent guide! She was knowledgeable about the sites and history of Riga and Latvia. The driver was courteous. The sites themselves were also interesting. You get out of Riga see the surrounding suburbs and landscape. We got to stop for coffee before exploring the castle at Sigulda, then stopped by the biggest cave in Latvia (not that big, but interesting folklore), and hiked to Turkish to explore. On the way back, we stopped at lunch at the cat bistro which was delicious.
