Corfu Town is the vibrant capital of Corfu Island, nestled on a scenic peninsula along the eastern coast of the Ionian Sea. Its Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site—an enchanting maze of narrow, cobbled streets, Venetian-style facades and pastel neoclassical mansions that reflect centuries of Venetian, French, British, Byzantine, and Roman influences.
Key highlights include:
1. Historic Fortresses
2. Liston & Spianada
3. Cobbled Alleys (“kantounia”)
4. Churches & Museums
All its diverse architecture, pedestrian boulevards, and cultural layers give Corfu Town a unique, almost romantic European cityscape—where walking through its streets feels like strolling through history itself.

Overall the experience was smooth and well coordinated. The ferry from Sarandë to Corfu was on time, though the return trip at 6:30 pm was about 30 minutes late. Still, everything was organized — the tour coordinator and bus were waiting for us at the port and made sure we returned back in time to the ferry back to Sarandë. Once in Corfu, we had the choice of either spending time in Paleokastritsa (beautiful area with beaches and views) or exploring Corfu Old Town. This is a tour you do on your own — there is no guide — but the coordinator was very informative, helpful, and accommodating, answering all questions we had about Corfu. This experience works well for first-time visitors who just want a taste of the island and the convenience of transport. However, if you’re expecting a guided tour with commentary throughout the day, this may not be the right option.
