What To Expect
Monastery Sevanavank
Mariam, the daughter of King Ashot I, promised to build 30 churches in honour of her late husband. She kept her promise throughout her life. One of them, Sevanavank, was built in 874. Founded in the 4th century, Sevanavank experienced its development in the 9th century. Apart from the two standing churches, the unique khachkar of the 17th century, with its many biblical scenes, deserves special attention. The name of the capital, Yerevan, was recorded for the first time on the dome of Sevanavank.
Lake Sevan
The first place we will visit is Lake Sevan, the beauty of Armenia. Being 1900 meters above sea level, Sevan is the second-highest lake in the world with a freshwater supply. Sevan, of volcanic origin, is surrounded by mountain ranges divided into two parts and one large peninsula. Lake Sevan enjoys great popularity among tourists for both active and passive recreation. With a maximum depth of 83 meters, Sevan is the only one of the three historical Armenian lakes located on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Best tour to visit Armenia

5.00Our guide Vagha (I might spell wrongly) and the driver gave us a good tour outside Yerevan. He is very knowledgeable and I definitely learned a lot about the history and culture of Armenia. Due to heavy snow and safety reason we could not visit one of the monasteries as scheduled. Our guide decided to bring us to Dilijan old town for a visit. The add on of wine and brandy tasting is a must. The whole process took almost 1.5-2 hrs and our tour guide Katherine (again I might be wrong cos too much of vodka, brandy) gave us a lengthy and details tour. The wines, brandy tasting in the end is more of companionship. We all became good buddies after a couple of drinks. Once again, this tour offers me a different perspective of Armenia and I will definitely recommend to anyone joining their tours.

4.00The sites we visited were wonderful; however, I was disappointed that we found out on the day of the tour that one of the monasteries advertised as part of the tour was not accessible and would not be visited. The tour and tastings at the winery was especially nice and very reasonably priced. Our guide was very kind and knowledgeable; however, he provided much more time in commentary to the Russian speakers than to the English speakers.

5.00The tour to Sevan and Dilijan went just fine. Very beautiful places, excellent organization and pleasant atmosphere throughout the trip. Guide Jasmine - attentive, friendly and very interesting narration, made the trip lively and educational. She was easy and comfortable. Driver Norik is a true professional: neat and calm driving, which made the road safe and comfortable. Only positive impressions left. I would love to recommend this tour and this team!

4.00The trip is nice and well organized. According to weather challenges in Jan, the trip can be modified to ensure safety. Vega is welling knowledgable about history and details. He explains in Russian and English, but sometimes I feel he goes into more details in Russian. Overall, the tour trip is good.

5.00We participated in three daily tours from Yerevan and the experience was overall very positive and well organized. The itineraries are varied and interesting, able to offer a complete view of Armenia between history, spirituality, nature and food and wine. Geghard and Garni’s tour, including the lavash preparation demonstration, was particularly engaging: the visit to the historic sites is enriched with clear and passionate explanations, while the experience of traditional bread makes the tour authentic and memorable. The excursion to Lake Sevan, Dilijan and Goshavank, with a stop at the Ijevan Wine Factory, impresses with its landscapes and the balance between nature and culture, while also offering a pleasant insight into local wine traditions. The tour of Khor Virap and Echmiadzin is perhaps the most symbolically and spiritually impressive, thanks to the view of Mount Ararat and the discovery of the origins of Armenian Christianity. A great strength was the skill of the guides, always prepared, available and able to transmit the history and culture of the country with professionalism and passion.
