We set out at daybreak from your hotel to catch up with the dawn songs of the birds. The first birding spot will be along the Zambezi River above Victoria Falls . As the sun rises we will catch the first sight of birds like the Hadeda Ibis, Half-Collared Kingfisher, or perhaps the Schalow's Turaco which will be our target bird of the morning. We will continue into the Zambezi National Park in search of more species of birds. As it warms up will we focus on the high flyers like the African Hawk Eagle, Martial Eagle, Western Banded Snake Eagle, and all different kinds of vultures. Our Lunch is a picnic-style lunch in the bush and afterward, we will focus on the woodlands. Examples of targeted birds this afternoon are chestnut vented Tit Babbler, Violet eared waxbill, and all different kinds of LBJs. We aim to complete our day around 4.00 pm

We had a great day of birding with Abraham and Talet. They were timely, professional, knowledgeable, and fun to spend the day with. We saw 93 bird species along with hippos, elephants, giraffes, kudu, baboons, monkeys, bush buck impalas, and hyenas. We had lunch at a waterhole lookout so watched animals come and go as we ate.

My wife and I booked the activity through our lodge in Victoria Falls. We didn't know what to expect as in our past travels the birding tours were hit or miss, as far as having knowledgeable guides. Sam, our guide, was an expert birder, professional, engaging, and enthusiastic. The driver, Martin had keen eyes for spotting birds and great attitude. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
