Explore and experience the Slave Castles and Dungeons as well as the infamous DOOR OF NO RETURN that were used to enslave Africans to the new world. Reconnect and reunite with your brothers and sisters. Receive a home coming experience full of history, culture and a wonderful sense of identity.
We will be visiting either Cape Coast Castle or Elmina Castle and Kakum Canopy walk. City or highway traffic can sometimes affect the travel times, so we can only visit one or both castles ( if you don't fancy hikes and heights then we can skip the Kakum canopy park as this hike can be challenging and not ideal for seniors and those with mobility challenges,) we aim to head back to Accra before night falls.
If you have an extra day to spare we encourage you book our overnight stay package that will allow you the leisure of time and pace at a great beach resort and explore all 3 major activities.

Ghana Must Go Tours (GMGT) is a must if you are visiting Ghana. Sure there are locals who are willing to take you to Cape Coast, the beach or Accra’s Art Center but your experience will not be matched to utilizing GMGT. Let me explain. 1. Even before arriving to Ghana I was emailing back and forth (not long!) with GMGT to explain where I wanted to go and how long I wanted to stay there. They were very patient and accommodating, changing the proposal to meet my needs. 2. When we arrived, Toufic (one of GMGT employees) was on time. If there was any delay, he let us know in advance. The group was just my husband and I, which was perfect, because my historian husband and I were not rushed while at the museum. That is not to say you can linger all day. He politely reminds you of the schedule! Which I appreciate, because I wanted to see everything. 3. Another advantage of GMGT is at the various sites - Elmina Castle, Cape Coast castle, Jamestown, Botanical Garden…Toufic saw to it that we had the best tour guides. They were eloquent and shared a lot of history. 4. For lunch we stopped at various restaurants with scenic views of the Atlantic or the Lake. I loved that he would sometimes place our order so we would have to wait long. 5. At the market we had a guide help us see as many booths as we wanted and negotiate. The was very helpful. Negatives? None about GMGT. Really. I will say some of the roads are bad (bumpy). On one very long road, even though we were in a nice vehicle, windows up, a/c on, it still felt like I was breathing the dust. So if you have asthma or COPD bring a mask. Otherwise, Ghana Must Go Tours is a must if it’s your first trip or you’re visiting again because you can’t see everything in one trip.

Booking with Toufic was amazing. From start to finish he communicated everything, answered our questions, was prompt and responsive to emails and texts and provided an amazing, valuable and life changing experience. He is kind and helpful, and the tour is worth way more than what we paid. Van picked us up on time, a delicious lunch was provided at a beautiful coastal restaurant, we felt and were safe the entire trip and Toufic went above and beyond to make our experience more meaningful. Please book with Ghanamustgotours. Don’t even consider booking elsewhere, seriously.

The canopy tour was tones of fun and a work out going up the hill. However, the view once you reach the top was absolutely stunning! Then we went to the cape coast castle which was insightful and heartbreaking at the same time. The castle tour of where the transatlantic slave trade began was emotional but extremely informative. All in all, it was a great experience that I recommend that you participate in. And our tour guide Amara was fun, helpful, accommodating and he was very knowledgeable about the Ghana and the various cultural experiences.

We had a great and memorable trip to the Cape Coast. About a 3 hour drive from Accra. Our guide (Kapito) was amazing. Super personable and informative. My friend and I opted out of the Kakum Canopy/National Park, so we started our time on the Coast with beachside breakfast. We first visited Elmina and then Cape Coast Castle. The two castles differ essentially only by the countries that claimed historical possession. But their common history lies in the horrendous history that was slavery. Visiting the former slave dungeons provides an opportunity to briefly relieve this horror. It is a necessary experience, not just for Africans and descendants of the African Diaspora. This is an important experience for all humans that believe knowing our past helps us to not repeat it! We ended our time with another beachside meal and then returned to Accra.

What an incredible experience! The driver and our Guide Amara were so thoughtful and anticipated our needs in advance even to the smallest detail. We were travelling with kids so Amara created an itinerary and logistics that made sure the kids were occupied on the long drive and also at each stop. We had lunch at a charming beach restaurant close to Elmina Castle. All around a fabulous experience!

This was a great tour! Our guide was professional, punctual, knowledgeable, fun, and was able to personalize the tour for us to have the best experience. We did the canopy and cape coast tour then had a delicious lunch afterwards at a beautiful ocean front restaurant. It was great vibes. My friend and I would definitely come back and do more tours with him. He even gave great recommendations on restaurants and clubs! We couldn’t have asked for a better tour and guide! We are so grateful. He made our experience in Ghana a memorable one.
