We were picked up right on time at 08:00 by Pato from Ecuador a Color, and from that moment on the entire day unfolded seamlessly. Pato proved to be an outstanding guide—deeply knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the places and wildlife he introduced us to. Our first stop was the Reserva Geobotánica Pululahua, where we enjoyed a breathtaking view into the crater. Pato shared fascinating insights about the geology, history, and unique ecosystem of this extraordinary location, setting the tone for a day full of learning and discovery. On the way to Mindo, he brought us to a charming bird‑watching spot. Thanks to his sharp eye and explanations, we had the rare luck of spotting a Chocó toucan along with numerous hummingbirds. His ability to identify species instantly and share interesting details made the experience even more special. We continued to the Tarabita Mindo a las Cascadas and hiked to the Cascadas de Nambillo—about 1 hour and 20 minutes of beautiful trails, bird sightings, and exploration of the local flora and fauna. Again, Pato’s commentary enriched every step. After a delicious lunch at the lovely Las Terrazas de Dana, we visited the butterfly farm and later a small artisanal chocolate producer in Mindo, where we learned about the entire chocolate‑making process. Each stop was well chosen, perfectly timed, and smoothly organised. By the time we returned to Quito, we felt we had experienced not just a tour, but a truly memorable day—thanks to the thoughtful planning and Pato’s exceptional guidance. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a well‑organised, informative, and unforgettable visit to the Mindo region.

Gustavo provided us with an extraordinary educational experience in the rich ecosystem of the Mindo Rainforest. As well as historical and cultural perspectives from such an educated and well-travelled guide.

This is a wonderful tour that is worth every penny spent. Our day with Patricio (Pato) to explore the Mindo Cloud Forest was exceptional: he’s so knowledgeable, thoughtful and just a joy to get to know and spend time with. We learned about the history and politics of Quito, the geology of the Andes, took a gorgeous hike, experienced an amazing array of hummingbirds and other species of birds, had a wonderful lunch, and went to a butterfly farm. By the end of the day, we felt like Pato was a family member and we didn’t want to say goodbye, so we asked him to take us down to Cotopaxi a week later. He agreed, even though the trip coincided with his normal day off (and Valentine’s Day!). The time spent with Pato is a warm memory and we’ll definitely seek him out again if ever back to Quito.

We enjoyed a delightful day on a private tour with our guide Galindo. Galindo picked us up at our hotel and gave us much information about Ecuador and what we would be seeing in the cloud forest. He was very knowledgeable about Ecuador’s economy and culture and was always friendly and professional. After about a 2 hour drive we arrived in Mindo and visited a birding reserve where we fed many hummingbirds and saw toucans, several species of tanagers and many other birds. We later took a cable car ride over the Mindo-Nambillo Cloud Forest Reserve and hiked in the forest, seeing many orchids and bromeliads among other plants and wildlife. Our next stop was a butterfly garden and conservation center which was amazing. At one time there were 6 butterflies sitting on my hat. For lunch we went to an excellent restaurant with mountain and garden views. We had asked before starting our day to include the Intinan Equator Museum as part of our tour. It had excellent exhibits and science experiments showing the effects of the Coriolis force at the Equator. We spent a wonderful day visiting the Mindo area and the Intinan Museum. Galindo’s knowledge and willingness to customize our tour made our day memorable and special.

The best experience in Pichincha depto north of Quito, the guide 100 points, knowledge, regional food, walks in the forest and waterfalls, the park of hummingbirds, and the orchids... without words. All the time needed to live every experience. He also records you and takes pictures, super original, to show your friends. And the explanation in the chocolate farm, the tasting, the moisturizing mask, MUST, without words!

We had a fantastic day traveling to Mindo. Our guide, Pato, was first-rate. Incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of Ecuador as well as its history and culture. He was attentive, relaxed and just made the whole day fun. We made several stops all of which were unique and beautiful. The hummingbird watching was exceptional and the hike to the waterfall was demanding but rewarding. Pato stopped at a fabulous restaurant for lunch after which we visited a butterfly farm where we had the opportunity for gorgeous pictures. We all felt it was the best guided daytrip we have ever experienced and we travel quite a bit. Don’t hesitate!

Carolina was a spectacular host for our trip to Mindo. She gave us a great glimpse into the cloud forest and all of its animals. Carolina and our driver, Lenin, tailored the trip to our interests and we got to see a Toucan, Capybara, Butterflies, and many many Hummingbirds! They were flexible and accommodating and we would recommend this trip to anyone!
