We had a fab day with Phong. He kept us interested throughout and was very knowledgeable. The bike riding, lunch and walk to the top were my favourite.

I would recommend this trip for older tourists rather than younger backpackers. We were picked up for our hostel very easily but our tour guide didn’t do much guiding and rather made distasteful jokes about marriage and his mother the entire day. We were taken to very crowded tourist spots and left to our own devices to explore despite a tight schedule for the day. I will say the dynamic between our group wasn’t great which the tour provider cannot control and contributed to our experience. The boat trip to the caves was nice but definitely not as advertised with pictures. The goat and chicken weren’t very nice at lunch. We cycled through the rice fields but then came onto a very busy main road without helmets and we were left to navigate this while he cycled off. We were told to wear shorts and bring a towel however we didn’t need a towel at any point and shorts were not permitted in the holy sites! Our tour guide kept telling us to not respect the rules of the sites such as taking pictures of deities and walking offsite which felt disrespectful to the locals and the area. To finish, we told our guide we needed to be back by 7pm latest to catch our bus and he told us we would be back by 6-6.30pm as advertised so it wouldn’t be a problem. We left late and almost missed our bus to our next city; without the help of our hostel staff we would’ve missed it. Ninh Binh itself is beautiful but I would recommend staying the night and exploring yourself to avoid crowded tourist areas and tight schedules.

Ninh Binh is a must-see and this tour is the perfect way to experience it. The scenery is breathtaking, especially during the boat trip through the limestone caves and the climb up to Mua Cave. Even though the 500 steps to the top are a bit tiring, the panoramic view is absolutely worth the effort. The itinerary was well-paced, the guide was knowledgeable, and the transport from Hanoi was comfortable and on time. It is a long day trip, but everything was handled professionally. If you want to see the "Ha Long Bay on land" without any stress, I highly recommend this tour!

Great tour. The guide contacted me by WhatsApp the day before using my phone number i provided when booking online. The limo/van arrived at 7am. The seats were incredibly comfortable. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and positive. Bottled water was provided. We first stopped at a rest point for a bathroom break, optional coffees, there was some stuff for sale, but nobody was pushy. Then went to Ninh Binh and climbed the mountain to the lady budha statue. Very steep and manymany stairs, there was plenty of time. If you are not good with stairs there are rice fields with a boardwalk you can walk around, very picturesque. The view from the top of the mountain was amazing. On my trip it happened to rain, but we were provided with ponchos, check the weather and wear appropriate footwear or bring a spare top/socks etc. We then went on a boat ride through the mountains, it was amazing, soo many great photos. Lunch was provided (drinks were extra but not crazy expensive). Great vegetarian options. Food was great. We then did a bike ride through town to a temple, which was also very nice. The bike segment was fairly slow and easy. Overall a great, comfortable trip and well worth it. P.S. Our tour guide Phong and driver were great.

We had a great tour with Steven. Pickup was prompt and the van was comfortable and equipped with plenty of water, spare umbrellas and rain ponchos. Itinerary was a good mix of activities and more passive experiences. And our guide was humorous, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed day out near Hanoi!
