Perched high on the serene banks of the River Eske and framed by the sweeping views of Donegal Bay lie the evocative ruins of a once-majestic 15th-century Franciscan Abbey. With its graceful Gothic arches, intricate stone carvings, and timeworn walls, this sacred site invites quiet reflection on the centuries of devotion, conflict, and community it has seen. As part of our guided walking tour, we journey through its storied past—uncovering ancient religious customs, local myths, enduring legends, and long-held secrets hidden in the silence of its cloisters. An excellent tour with Joe Greene at the wheel. A friendly, hugely informative cultural and historical tour in a small group. Joe also gave us great local nuggets on this trip to Donegal Town, the Castle, the weaving demo and the dramatic Slieve League cliffs. Joe even treated us to a musical finale of traditional music. Fantastic!

We really appreciated that when our ship was delayed a full day due to the weather, they were actually able to reschedule us for the next day. We had a lovely day exploring the region and we stopped at the Rusty Mackerel for lunch and we had the best seafood chowder ever! Our guide and driver actually played traditional Irish music for us during lunch. A great day, thanks!

We had a lovely day trip to Donegal Castle, Donegal Abbey and then to Slieve Liag Cliffs with a couple of stops along the way. Our bus driver Joe was very knowledgeable on the local area and the crack/fun on the bus was great. Everyone was so friendly. Definitely worth doing.
