One day before our guide will contact you and get the location of your hotel or any accommodation in Baku. Gabala is 216 km from Baku. On the way to Gabala, our first stop will be Shamakhi City which was the ancient capital of Shirvansah's reign. Juma mosque which is considered the oldest mosque in Azerbaijan will be visited in Shamakhi. After reaching Gabala city guests will taste delicious lunch at the traditional restaurant. You can enjoy nature walking around Nohur Lake, or take a boat or catamaran ride. Tufandagh Mountain Resort is the most popular touristic place in Gabala. Guests can get a cable car and go to the top of Tufandagh Mountain. Winter Season Resort became a skiing resort as well. 7 beauties Waterfalls will be our last stop in Gabala. On the way to the waterfall, we will change our minivan to a Soviet Lada car and experience an off-road trip

Juma Mosque
Juma Mosque of Shamakhi or Friday Mosque is a mosque in the city of Shamakhi, Azerbaijan.Construction date of the mosque- 743-744 relies on research of a geological commission coming from Tiflis, which was led by prince Shahgulu Qajar. This date was defined with Arabic ligature on the facade of the Friday Mosque, stating the year 126 according to Islamic calendar as the establishment year.Just in this period the construction of new religious buildings – mosques – was begun in the territory of Azerbaijan. Historical appearance of ancient Islamic architectural monuments was related to Arabs’ governance and spreading of Islam in the territory of Azerbaijan. Friday Mosque of Shamakhi is considered the first mosque in the Caucasus after cathedral Friday Mosque of Derbent, which was constructed in 734.

5.00I went on a tour to Gabala & Shamakhi with Mr. Eljan. He was a very nice and friendly guide. I highly recommend others to visit these places with him. He speaks English well and also knows several other languages. His knowledge about the country and the places we visited was excellent. I would love to see him again as a guide on my next trip. I give him a 5 out of 5 rating as one of the best tour guides!

5.00Ali was our guide. He is flexible and accommodating. The lake where we had lunch is relaxing, and the view from taking the cable car up is spectacular. Note- the waterfalls is not as impressive during the summer (lack of rain) but the 200 or so high stairs is good exercise
