Kachikally Crocodile Pool
To start the tour you will visit one of the most famous attractions of the Gambia: the Kachikally Crocodile Pool. Here, you are guided through a museum, where the culture and history of the Gambia will be explained by our guide. He will tell you all sorts of information about the music, traditions, languages and more of which the country has to offer! After this, you are able to visit the crocodile pool. Here you watch the crocodiles and take photos of them!
Arch 22
Thereafter you will visit Arch 22 in Banjul. The July 22nd Arch is a monument that spans the Independence Drive which is the road that leads into the Gambia's capital. A good reason to visit the monument is for the panoramic views you get of the city from the top floor terrace. Here you get a better idea of the place as an island city, encircled by the ocean, the River Gambia and parts of the Tanbi mangroves.

Contacted Jimmy via the app. +220 7647423. He responds very quickly and contact goes in English. He's a real local who works for his family and not for a bigger organization. We (6 people) were picked up neatly as agreed on time at the agreed location with an open jeep. Whole family in the back and Jimmy with his uncle driving in the front. We agreed to see these things. We started at Crocodile Pool. See separate review. Then to the Serekunda local market. Very busy market where you can actually buy everything you can imagine. Then the Lamin lodge oyster factory. The Boat trip you could also do there we did not do. Again, a separate assessment has been made of this. Then to the Brikama Arts & Crafts market. Again, a separate assessment of this. Finally, the Tanji fish market. We had actually agreed on the Monkey park but we were completely exhausted and went back to the hotel. Price agreed in advance. Everything went according to plan one to your liking. Jimmy who studied tourism could tell us a lot. He left us completely free in our choice. Super involved guide! Can really recommend it!!

It started on time. Demboh (guide) and David (driver) were both very friendly and accommodating. Drinks were plentiful (water, Fanta). Tours were carried out as described and I always felt in good hands.

The monument and the crocodiles were fantastic. However in the market you will be taken to the guides "uncles" incredibly over priced stalls. The "uncles" will then relentlessly try to bully you in to buying stuff you don't want for extortionate prices.

Our guide Dembo arrived at the meeting point on time and guided us through the city together with a driver. Starting with the market, then moving on to the arch22 and Parliament. Afterwards we went to the Crocodile Pool, where we went with a few crocodiles to feel close. Finally we drove through a "normal" residential area. Overall, it was an interesting tour that responded to our wishes. The one point deduction is given for the missing water, but since it is Ramadan, our guide and driver probably just did not think about it.

Preparations for Independence Day caused the tower to be closed, but our guide took us to the National Museum, which was excellent and probably better than the plan. We were fortunate to have Babou Carr, an excellent guide, for the day.
