Garni Temple
During this excursion, we'll explore Garni, Geghard, and the Azat River Valley, home to numerous historical and natural landmarks. Our journey begins with a visit to Geghardavank, a renowned 13th-century monastery, followed by Garni village, which boasts a variety of well-known and lesser-known sites. A brief hiking excursion will lead us to the iconic Garni pagan temple and the Symphony of Stones. We'll also pause near the Arch of Charents, offering a breathtaking vista of Mount Ararat.
The Monastery of Geghard
The Geghard Monastery, situated in the Kotayk province, is a medieval marvel partially carved into the adjacent mountain and encircled by cliffs. Its commonly used name, Geghard or Geghardavank, meaning "the Monastery of the Spear," stems from the spear that wounded Jesus during the Crucifixion. According to belief, Apostle Jude, also known as Thaddeus in Armenia, brought the spear to the region, where it was safeguarded among various relics, now exhibited in the Echmiadzin treasury. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the monastery complex enjoys enhanced protection status.

The team is extremely nice. Although they speak Russian for the most of the time, they try to involve everyone. They showed us more than what is in the program. I definitely recommend it.

We were put on the wrong tour/bus by the tour operator. By the time we realised we were already at Khor Virap (which we had already seen). We didn’t arrive at Garni until 12.30. While we still got to see the 3 sights included in the tour we booked, we got less time at each than the original itinerary said (30 mins at each versus 55 mins), did not get Lavash baking, and got back to Yerevan later than planned. The driver was apologetic about the issue and tried to find a solution but could only offer to let us stay on the tour. Otherwise, all sights were incredible, lunch was good, and the driver was friendly.

Guide was excellent, but buying the ticket from him was tricky, as he was not quipped with enough change. Suggest making part of the price of the tour to eliminate the confusion

Had an amazing tour with Areni and Arthur. The Symphony of Stones was unusual and interesting. Geghard monastery was special with an impromptu song by Areni that was beautiful. Loved the location of Garni temple. Highly recommend.

In December when lots of other tours were unavailable my 21 year old son and I found this one. We travelled in a cosy coach with fellow travellers from around the globe. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave a very full commentary on each site as well as a thorough introduction to Yerevan. Also included in the tour was a demonstration of Lavash bread making, which was good to see. Free bottle of water too. Very pleased with our trip. I would have no hesitation in recommending.

Garni is beautiful, especially with the backdrop of the Snowy Mountains. Considering the area’s relatively small size, I believe the allocated free time for each location is enough. All the entrance fee is included, and they also provided us with water and snacks. Karen and Aro were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area. Tour Time: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
