Amazing experience! Nora was an exceptional guide throughout the tour. While it can be a little tough climbing the steps in Gatzelugatxe, it was def worth it

Gaztelugatxe was incredibly beautiful. A somewhat strenuous hike so you should be physically fit. It was definitely worth it!

Hiking to Gaztelgatexe was hard. Required climbing 244 steps and a muddy trail but well worth it. José was an energetic and knowledgeable guide and spoke passionately about the Basque resistance and efforts to preserve the oaks and the forest. Guernica was unexpectedly moving and José explained the bombing of the city well. A necessary lesson in times of fascism.

Spectacular tour, I loved everything I saw , the landscapes, the villages and above all the explanations of the guide José about the culture, the language, the customs, the history, gastronomy etc of the Basque culture. You can rating him as a teacher because of his Capacity (in covers) to reach out to the listener and attract their attention. If I have to put a little "glue" is the short time they left in Mundaka to have a few pintxos... I would have liked to enjoy a little more.

I took a tour today from San Sebastián to Geztelugatxe and Gernik from San Sebastian (not Bilbao). It was an excellent tour, and the guide was terrific. We had a bit of a rough start because the original guide could not get to us because traffic was so bad. The new guide, Nora Zabala, quickly set things right. She explained everything about both sites very thoroughly, and it was clear that she was truly interested in the history of her own people and of the sites. I learned so much about Basque history and people. We were lucky enough to be in Gernik on a festival day, and it was a delight to be able to see such a festival and participate in it in addition to the usual tour activities. I would highly recommend Local Expert Tours, and recommend this guide in particular, Nora Zabala I would suggest that local expert tours invest in higher quality sound equipment in the van. There was often quite a lot of static, and it was difficult to get the sound level exactly correct so that everyone on the Van could hear. Otherwise… Everything was great!

Amazing tour and excellent guide, I would totally recommend it. Getting to Gaztelugatxe can be challenging for some, prepare for lots of climbing and for different weather conditions. We had rain and lots of wind but the place was still amazing and we got a huge rainbow as a reward.
