What To Expect
Gettysburg Heritage Center
A visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield is not complete without stopping at the Gettysburg Heritage Center Museum. The tour begins at either the Heritage Center or the National Park Visitor Center. If you’re not at either location yet, head over now. From there, we’ll follow the official Auto Tour route. Note: The tour is over 19 mile long per tour, with more than 60+ audio stories per tour, and takes about 1-2 hours to complete. New, Lifetime access, no expiry. As we continue driving, dawn breaks on the first day of battle. At McPherson's Ridge, Union and Confederate armies clash and generals on both sides order their regiments into place. We'll be able to imagine the movements of the battle as we look out over the ridge.

5.00The self-guided tour was very informative, and it was cool how the information popped up as we drive along the tour path. It guided us through GPS and played as we passed certain landmarks. It lasted around 4 hours, but it was so interesting, the time flew by

It delivered history, strategy, analysis of what the sides did right and wrong, and interesting stories of various heroes, over the course of our driving through the battlefield, with engaging stops along the way. What we especially appreciated is that if we deviated from the path (on purpose or by mistake), the app knew where we were and delivered the right commentary for where we were. Be sure to pick up a map of the battlefield at the visitor's center before you start the tour, to help you stay in sequence. Our group was four family members age 8 through age 75, and all enjoyed the audio tour and learned a lot about the battle of Gettysburg.

4.00I would recommend. The big advantage is you go at your own pace compared to a in person tour. We skipped most of the optional information. With getting out of the car about six times the tour took us three and a half hours. While the directions were pretty good, we did get off the tour by accident a couple times but quickly got back on. It was hard to find a bathroom as some of the ones mentioned on the tour were closed. I might of brought a bigger paper map as at some points it was hard to compare where we were to the "big picture."

5.00We spent one of the coldest days of the year in Gettysburg. What better way to sit through -20 windchills, than taking this audio tour. We took our time, stopped to read nearly all the monuments and placards and found it so enjoyable, we spent more than 4 hours at our own pace. I highly recommend this tour no matter what the wether. It was very well done, and the build in GPS was spot on.

5.00We enjoyed this option for a casual self-guided tour. Because New Year’s Day was our only choice of went to visit, it worked out very well with some things being closed or limited. The assistance in the narration and navigation is high quality, helping you explore safely and efficiently in a new place. We enjoyed all the extra info we were able to click within the tour and being able to use our own pace to learn more or skip ahead. We didn’t notice anywhere in the app, but it would be great if there was a place to add feedback at least in semi-real-time for road closures, etc., which we encountered. But it was fabulous for a winter/off season way to participate in national history of the area!

5.00We absolutely loved the Gettysburg audio tour. Using the app made everything incredibly easy and convenient—the directions guided us step-by-step through the entire national park, so we never had to worry about getting lost or missing an important stop. The self-paced format was perfect, allowing us to take our time, explore each site, and really absorb the history without feeling rushed. The narration was clear, informative, and full of fascinating details that brought the battle to life in a way we didn’t expect. Overall, it was a wonderful learning experience and one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend!
