After crossing the border we will drive along the fence which surrounds this once glamorous city, before arriving on its renowned sandy beach where we view the deserted hotels up close along its coast. We then continue by circling the moat of the gothic city where the castle walls tower over us and finally enter inside and tour the city within the walls where 365 churches and cathedrals which once stood witness to centuries of history gone by. Free time will be given to walk around the city to explore things further or sit back and enjoy a coffee and their famous sweets.

The pickup from the hotel was very punctual and went as described. We had a very nice (English-speaking) driver. The actual guide then took over at the visitor center and led us after a short drive through the streets of the "ghost town" Varosha. Even though it is now open to tourists, and therefore many groups are wandering around, there remains a creepy and oppressive feeling. This tour impressed us very much, especially since everything went as described. Highly recommended!

Very interesting trip. Ideal that it was not an all-day tour.

Both George and Dimitri were fantastic tour guides, both with emotional stories first hand of 1974, the Ghost town has been on my bucket list since early 2000’s when I saw Famugusta from the beachfront from the occupied side. Such a huge experience that has such a sad story attached to it, but hopefully one day I can go back to once a fantastic city.

We made a booking for this tour via 'Get your guide' on the website it stated "likely to sell out" we made our booking and paid for the trip and received email confirmation. We then received a phone call asking us to change the date to a date that we would not be in Cyprus without any explanation. A few hours later we received an email stating it was cancelled with no reason and we had to claim the refund otherwise we wouldn't have received our money back. I think this is poor advertising for the tour as there shouldnt have been any availability if they were not able to accommodate us.

George our guide was brilliant & a lovely man...I felt very saddened in the holy spirit as to what has happened in terms of what I saw...none of what happened in 1974 was of God nor the continuous justification of what happened..there is a spiritual darkness hanging over the famagusta. A shame because the Turkish cyproits are victims as well..George finds the balance in what he is guiding on which is credit to him as it is very personal to him...hopefully it will all get sorted because it's not the people..

Picked up in a tight time, unfortunately we had to wait at the information center quite a long time for the second part of the group.. Otherwise the information was excellent and the trip to Varosha and the tour there good and informative. The time in old city Famagusta was unfortunately too short there needed at least another hour.

An incredibly exciting tour into the closed city of Famagusta. Our guide George was very clear, friendly and took us through the story in a very entertaining and informative way. I can really recommend this tour to anyone who can walk in the sun for a while.
