Kadek and his sister Putu grew up in the pretty village of Gianyar, nestled among smooth rice paddies, steep ravines, and dense forests. Kadek will pick you up from your hotel in Ubud and, on the way to his family compound, you will stop at the Gianyar market, a large neighborhood market that locals frequent where he will show you the the regional fruits and vegetables used in Balinese cooking. Putu lives in a simple home in a traditional family compound surrounded by farms. She will show you how to make authentic Balinese food from scratch.

What To Expect
Experience the delicious food and warm hospitality of Bali with Kadek and Putu. Join Kadek's sister, Putu, and members of their family in the family compound to cook traditional Balinese dishes from scratch. First Kadek will pick you up from your Ubud hotel and take you to a local Gianyar market, where he will show you regional fruits, vegetables and herbs that are used in Balinese cooking, before returning to his home to cook together. If you're interested, before the cooking experience, Kadek can show you how he grows local fruits and vegetables at his home, a few doors down from his sister's house. As you explore the garden he will offer you a fresh juice, squeezed from just-picked seasonal fruits like mulberry, passion fruit, papaya, mango, or jackfruit. After cooking, enjoy an authentic Balinese meal of dishes such as piquant chicken satay, stir-fried vegetables, steamed fish, rice, and, for dessert, fried banana with grated fresh coconut and palm sugar.

5.00What an amazing day! We spent seven hours with two of the most welcoming and lovely people. The gem of this visit was how culturally immersive the experience was. Not only did we learn about the culinary life of a Balinese family, but we learned so much about the culture as well. My husband is not much of a foodie but he enjoyed it as much as I did. The food was incredibly flavorful and we had such a lovely time chatting with Kadek and Putu. If you're on the fence about booking, don't hesitate. You won't regret having this experience.

5.00Best cooking class with Putu! She showed us different food in the market as well as let us try each one. Every meal we made we started with the breakdown of every ingredient. This class was full hands on you got to chop all the way to cook! If we ever get a chance to come back to Bali I will be booking this class again!!! I would highly recommend this class to anyone!

5.00We did a cooking class with Putu and we would recommend the tour to everbody that is interessted in cooking of culture. We cooked 5 dishes and could chose whether we wanted vegan/ vegetarian/ meet dishes. Putu was really nice and explained us everthing we wanted to know. She also showed us her property and her massive garden, with many fruits and vegetabels. We could also try some of them. The dish we cooked was one of the best, we tried in Bali so far. It was really delighous. After the cooking she gave us take-away boxes, to take the left overs with us. We really loved that experience. She also send us all of the recepies we cooked.
