St. Michael's Cave
Of over the 150 caves that have been discovered in the Rock of Gibraltar this is the most visited with over one million visitors per year. The cave is situated at over 300 meters above sea level. In 1942 during the second world war blasting was in process inside this cave in order to allow for more ventilation. The cave was to be used as an emergency hospital. During the blasting, a discovery was made of a deeper system of caves which is now known as Lower St. Michael’s Cave In 2021 St Michael's Cave introduced a new lighting upgrade for the very best experience of the caves natural beauty, called The Awakening. Enjoy St Michael's cave like never before! An immersive light and sound installation expressing layer upon layer of history fused with the rock. The ancient cavern lays dormant. The Awakening illuminates sculptures older than time and reawakens their hidden story...

First things first, when I think tour, I think of someone who is a guide and helps to enhance the experience with details in insights beyond what you can read on the museum placards. This is not that. Rather, this is a driver who takes you from place to place, provides some insights as you drive along, but you are on your own when you get to the different attractions. Now, that is not to say the experience was bad - it wasn't. Our driver was experienced, was able to get to us to where we needed to be, warned us about the monkeys (important), and gave us good instructions on how to get to the attractions. His input did enhance the trips between the sights. However, this was not what I considered a tour. Would I recommend it for someone to take you from place to place, YES. You'll get around to all the key attractions and you'll be given some important insights. However, for the tour part, you'll need to bring your own guide or materials.

They specialize in worthwhile personalized tours. Be sure to see the pillars of Hercules, the skydeck (with the macques), the tunnels of WW1 and WW2. Carl's the best guide. Book at least 3 months in advance.

The booking was easy on the app, great communication leading up to the tour & from our tour guide. We were picked up by Cal who was awesome! He is so knowledgeable about Gibraltar & a great driver. We really appreciated all the amazing stops we did. The beauty of St. Michaels cave was unforgettable. The War Tunnels were so interesting to wander through. The Barbary monkeys were a treat to see up close. And the amazing Great Seige Tunnels were truly jaw dropping! The rock itself very impressive. We also enjoyed walking around the old town & eating fish & chips. We learned so much from our guide Cal & really appreciate him taking such great care of us! Highly recommend this tour.

Our friendly guide knew so much and his explanations helped our enjoyment and understanding. It was perfect to only wait for each other and not a larger group at each site. We got prompt, accurate responses prior to the trip and flexibility when unexpected things happened prior to starting. All 4 of us rated the trip as 5/5 and we would choose this company again.

This was an amazing experience! Very knowledgeable guide, Viktor (?) native to the island, gave us a great tour, lots of history & a very comfortable ride in a nice van! Our group of 8 were met at the cruise terminal & the history began immediately. An entertaining speaker, Viktor, kept us interested & laughing while we were driven between sights. In our 3 hour tour we saw it all! Absolutely fantastic!

This private tour was well worth the money, especially being able to make our getaway after walking down the road from St. Michael’s Cave, which was an experience in itself! Our guide, Kareem, gave us both a historical perspective and his own as a long time native of Gibraltar. We highly recommend the tour. All questions were promptly answered and directions for where we would be picked up ( at the cruise terminal) were easy to follow.

The whole tour with our guide John was great. Disappointing the WWII tunnels were under renovation but it was still awesome to see the size of the tunnels. The moneys were adorable. Gilbraltar is beautiful.

We had a fun day in Gibraltar. Our driver and guide, John, was filling in due to people calling off on the weekend. He did a great job and was very knowledgeable. We saw St. Michael’s Caves, the Barbary apes, the Skywalk, the tunnels, and of course, the Rock! It was a fun tour, but pricey ($712 for a 3-hour tour).
