The Jewish neighbourhood of Girona is one of the best preserved in Europe.
This district located in the heart of the city is full of ancient remains from its Roman and Medieval past. Known popularly as the "Call", this area was home to 1000 inhabitants during the Middle Ages, making it one of the most important Jewish communities in Spain's history. As you explore the pretty narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter, the hometown of Nahmanides, the Medieval Kabbalistic philosopher, you'll visit the spots where the city's 3 synagogues were located, you will find out all about the customs and traditions of the Jewish people. You'll also visit the Museum of Jewish History to learn about their way of life. Your guide will then lead you around the labyrinthine streets while explaining the history of the Expulsion of the Jews in 1492, an act that ended 600 years of coexistence. After this visit you'll have newfound knowledge of about the influence that the Jewish community left in Girona.

What a wonderful afternoon we spent with Miguel as he shared his knowledge and passion for his hometown of Girona. To begin with, Miguel’s flexibility was incredible as we had some train issues from Barcelona and ended up arriving much later than anticipated. He was able to still accommodate us and provided a tour with an emphasis on the Jews of Girona. The town’s history was fascinating and the sites both beautiful and interesting. It was a memorable afternoon spent with Miguel. Highly recommend any tour with him!

Mike’s tour of Girona was absolutely excellent! He was so knowledgeable, both as a native and local, as well as having a rich knowledge of the overall and Jewish history of Girona. Mike was very friendly and having taken tours in many of the 30 countries I’ve visited, one of the absolute best. Thank you, Mike!

We enjoyed tremendously our tour with Mike as a guide. He obviously has a vast knowledge of Girona's history and Jews part in particular. And he was happy to share as much information with us as we were ready to absorb. His narrative was factual but not boring, his stories were educational and sometimes humorous. At the same time he was attentive to our questions and interests. Highly recommended! The tour is about 3 hours total and includes 1 hour in the Museum of Jewish history.

Ona was a fantastic guide! Not only did we get a great overview of the Jewish history of the city, but we got a general tour of the overall city as well. Very worth the day trip from Barcelona.
