What To Expect
After meeting at the arranged pick-up point, the tour departs for Gobustan State Historical and Cultural Reserve, a 50-minute drive from Baku. The first stop is the Gobustan Museum, located beside the Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape. This modern museum introduces guests to the region’s ancient heritage, displaying more than 6,000 Stone Age rock engravings that illustrate hunting scenes, rituals, animals, and daily life. Guests explore the museum with their private guide for 40 minutes before continuing to the nearby Gobustan Rock Shelters, a short 3-minute drive away.
Gobustan Rock Art
At the Rock Shelters, visitors encounter one of Azerbaijan’s most important UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The area features prehistoric petroglyphs dating back up to 40,000 years, along with natural caves once used as dwellings and gathering spaces by early human communities. Guests spend 40 minutes here as their guide explains the archaeological significance, ancient lifestyles and geological formations of the site.

Excellent Baku Private Tour (Gobustan National Park)

5.00We used this private tour for two consecutive days. It was extremely convenient to be able to incorporate it into our own schedule while taking our other sightseeing plans into account. Access to Gobustan National Park is quite limited, and traveling by car is definitely the best option. While it’s possible to book a car through an app each time, you may end up waiting a long time if the timing is bad. In that sense, a private tour with a dedicated vehicle is undoubtedly the best choice. Our guide, Shahriyar Malikli, and our driver, Vugar, picked us up from our specified location. They were also very accommodating whenever we requested to stop by additional sightseeing spots along the way. They proved to be highly reliable partners for a private tour. Next time we visit, and whenever friends of ours plan a trip to Baku, we will definitely recommend them!

5.00This tour was a fantastic experience and highly enriching from start to finish. Our guide, Shahryiar, was extremely knowledgeable and provided detailed explanations throughout the journey. What stood out most was how he brought history to life—explaining how people lived during the Paleolithic and Stone Age, while thoughtfully comparing it with developments in other parts of the world. It gave a much deeper, global perspective that I hadn’t expected. The visit to the mud volcanoes was also fascinating, and Shahryiar shared clear and engaging insights into their formation and significance. I also really enjoyed seeing the Bibi-Heybat Mosque and the shipyard at the South Port. The mosque was beautiful and serene, while the shipyard was a unique highlight—something you don’t get to see every day, which made the experience even more memorable. Our driver, Vugar, was very professional and ensured a smooth and comfortable ride throughout the day, even on mountainous terrain and unpaved roads. We felt safe at all times. The best part of this experience is that it’s a private tour, so you have the flexibility to spend more time at the spots that interest you most. That level of customization made the tour even more valuable. I would especially recommend this tour to business travelers visiting Baku who want to make the most of their limited time, as well as to anyone looking for a tour with in-depth, professional historical explanations. FYI for the ticket admission of Gobustan (15 AZN per person)and mud volcano(15AZN per person), you can use credit card.

5.00I had an absolutely amazing experience! From start to finish, the guide Samir was well-organized everythink, comfortable, and exceeded my expectations. Samir were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to make sure we had a memorable time. The scenery was breathtaking, and I really enjoyed learning about the history and culture behind the place. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area – it’s definitely worth it! I’ll remember this trip for a long time and can’t wait to come back again. We enjoy the Gobustan museum and mud vulcoenos. Higly recommended!!!
