Gokyo Valley Trek is offers magnificent views of the mountain peaks and the Ngozumpa Glacier– the largest in Nepal’s Himalayas. The view of this region is associated with the soaring views of the most popular mountains in Nepal, at an altitude of 8,000 m such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu which are clearly visible from Gokyo Ri above Gokyo Lake. One of the most remarkable features is the views of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung.
After landing at Lukla’s airport, the adventure begins. We spend the next few days trekking and interacting amongst the mountain people also known as Sherpa’s, we stay at local lodges and trek into the heartland of their villages. We will pass Buddhist monasteries with the views of Everest and other snow towering mountains getting closer by the day. After trekking to Gokyo Ri (5,483 m), we return at a leisurely pace back to Namche and Lukla for our flight back to Kathmandu.

This trek delivered an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The scenery was breathtaking from start to finish. We hiked through beautiful birch and rhododendron forests with picturesque waterfalls and were rewarded with stunning panoramic mountain views as we ascended higher. The absolute highlight was summiting Gokyo Ri. The views of Everest, Cho Oyu, and the other towering peaks all around us were simply spectacular and made every difficult moment worth it. Our guide, Rajkumar, made all the difference. He navigated every challenge with incredible patience and positivity. When we were sick, he organized doctor visits, secured oxygen, and arranged a helicopter to get us back down quickly after bad weather trapped us in Gokyo for six nights. He literally helped shovel the helipad when we were snowed in! Raj even stayed with us after his tour officially ended, making sure we got our flight out of Lukla when hundreds of people were stranded. Raj was our trip hero, and made the trek an incredibly positive experience overall despite all of the challenges we faced. I could not recommend this trek or our guide more highly!

Truly the trip of a lifetime. Ace the Himalayas was great throughout, and Rajkumar was an excellent guide. He is professional, patient, and very knowledgeable. We had some good laughs along the way too. We ended up facing delays due to bad weather, and Rajkumar and the team back at the base handled it all expertly—including a last minute decision to take a helicopter down. I could not recommend the trip more highly.

Deeply grateful we chose Ace for this experience. The trek’s scenery was of course breathtakingly spectacular, but we encountered significant challenges along the way—illness, inclement weather, and other delays. Our guide, Rajkumar, was tireless in keeping us informed and positive about how to navigate those unforeseen challenges. As a result, we still had an amazing trek, and I recommend both Ace and Raj without reservation. Thank you!

We went with Ace for a trip to Gokyo and to summit Gokyo Ri. Our guide, Raj Kumar, gave us constant and invaluable support. We could not have done it without Raj, who stuck with us through delays due to illness and weather. When a couple people in the party (myself included) had poor reactions to altitude at Gokyo, Raj made sure we had medical attention from the local clinic, with the doctor visiting us multiple times a day, since we were stuck because of an unseasonable blizzard. Raj stayed positive throughout and kept us motivated and optimistic ourselves. And when we were on the trail, we had the most amazing experience. Raj ensured we were taking breaks and going the right pace for ourselves. The accommodations that Ace arranged were wonderful and we could tell that they had great relationships at each village, which also allowed for improvisation as plans changed. Because of our illnesses and weather delays, we ended up taking a helicopter from Gokyo to Lukla at the end. It took several days for the weather to clear enough, but Raj was on the phone constantly trying to get updates and made sure that we had the first helicopter out when flights resumed. Raj and Ace were truly lifesavers and despite the bumps, we had the most amazing experience of our lives!

We had a wonderful trip with Ace the Himalayas doing the Gokyo Ri and Renjo La pass hike. We were really lucky to have Ngima as our guide. He is really experienced with an incredible knowledge of mountaineering and the Khumbu region. As well as this, Ngima was attentive and thoughtful (and had a great sense of humour). He took care of every logistical detail and really helpful whenever any one of us was struggling or feeling ill. Our porters, Take and Aanice, were also brilliant, really friendly and also very supportive during the trek. Ace the Himalayas coordinated our trip really well, adapting quickly to changes in our schedule due to weather. All our communication with them before the trip was also great. Overall, we feel very privileged to have taken this challenging but once in a lifetime trip with such an expert and considerate team. Thank you all!

We had the absolute pleasure of doing the Gokyo Valley trek with Ace the Himalaya, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized, safe, and incredibly rewarding. A huge shoutout to our guide, Ramesh Karki, and porter, Aayush Rai—they truly made the experience exceptional. Ramesh was knowledgeable, patient, and always attentive to our needs. He shared so much about the local culture, geography, and mountain life, adding a deeper dimension to the trek. Aayush was cheerful and strong, always greeting us with a smile, and made sure our bags arrived safely and on time at every stop. The trek itself is stunning—pristine lakes, majestic peaks, and welcoming villages. Highlights included the climb to Gokyo Ri for sunrise (absolutely breathtaking!) and the peaceful beauty of the Gokyo Lakes. The pace was well-planned, with acclimatization days that made the higher altitudes much more manageable. Everything from the accommodations to the meals and logistics ran smoothly, and we always felt well taken care of. The Ace the Himalaya team is professional, organized, and clearly passionate about what they do. If you’re considering a Himalayan trek, don’t hesitate—go with Ace the Himalaya. And if you can, request Ramesh Karki and Aayush Rai—they’re the dream team. 5/5 and already dreaming of our next adventure!

I had an amazing time on the Ace the Himalayas Gokyo Lakes Trek with Nimesh. From the moment I landed at the airport, took the travelator downstairs (try it!) and received a garland of flowers, I knew this would be something special. Nimesh, our guide, and Sujan, who oversees operations for Ace, are fantastic hosts and very welcoming and patient. Make no mistake, this is a physically challenging trip for anyone, so make sure to train for weeks before you go and also make sure to follow the packing recommendations. You can also make last second buys in Kathmandu and Namche and other places but the items aren’t as good as you will get from home. Once the trek begins, you are basically walking up (with some down) and up and up and up. I took it slow and Nimesh was so supportive, staying with me closely and occasionally carrying my pack. As the air gets thinner and the trek gets harder, you want someone like Nimesh helping you out. Meanwhile, Lochan and Bishaal were supporting us by carrying our gear from town to town. They are super nice guys and clearly know the trail well. I decided to leave in Gokyo to head back down but my companion completed the entire trek up and over Renjo La Pass. It’s hard but worth it to see the views. I loved seeing 3 of the world’s 6 tallest mountains in the world with my own eyes and walking in their shadow is awe inspiring. The scale and size of the Himalayas will leave you blown away. Nepalese people are the nicest and most welcoming I’ve ever met. If you push yourself beyond what you think you’re capable of, you’ll be rewarded with amazing views and sights and cultural experiences. I can’t recommend enough Ace the Himalayas and Nimesh and Lochan and Bishaal and Sujan.

My trek with Ace to Gokyo Lakes and Renjo Pass was outstanding. The scenery was out of this world. The accommodations were always thoughtfully chosen. Everything was incredibly well organized. It was hard work but I felt completely supported. Nimesh was a fun and knowledgeable guide who made perfect adjustments depending on our needs. Bishal, our porter, was special. He didn’t just carry our bags, he was a ray of sunshine and a valued member of our traveling group. I can’t recommend Ace more highly to anyone who wants to do a trek in the Everest region. And it if I am lucky enough to come back, I would absolutely work with them again.

It will forever hold a special place in my heart.
