Reserve Naturelle de Gorilles de Lesio-Louna-Lefini
The Lesio Luna Sanctuary of Gorillas is a home of big apes, the only place near Brazzaville the capital City where you can see gorillas instead to go very far to the national parks where they can be seen in the wild. This sanctuary has for mission to protect orphans gorillas until they become mature and to release them to the nature. During their period of learning the wildlife in the island, the gorillas are feeding two times per day per the ecoguard of the reserve, and it's during that period that those gorillas can be seen.

The guide Regis and driver Jessie were awesome. 5 Stars! Super nice and very courteous. The tour though was a lot of driving to only 2 silverback gorillas. From Brazzaville it’s about 2 hours to the turn off the another hour to the spot to get in a boat. There were no life jackets on the boat and the river has a very strong current with lots of hidden underbrush and trees. When you arrive at the to the spots for Kaboo and Yoshi they are fed by the ranger/boat driver and you are about 15 feet from them. It’s a lot better than a zoo trust me, but those 2 are the only animals you see. No Hippos, crocs, antelope, etc. They speak of a nursery but we don’t go there. Then you do the whole drive back. We also went and saw Blue lake. I assumed it would be seen by the lakes edge. Nope, we were up high on a ridge probably another 15-20 minutes off-roading to get to it. We had a delay with the truck breaking down which you can’t plan for and Regis and Jessie made calls and after a few vehicle swaps the got me back to my hotel.
