  • Goslar: A hidden gem!

Goslar is one of the most beautiful towns in Germany that I have ever experienced. Our guide was extremely informative and provided us with facts and interesting stories about the town. The walk was 2 hours on mostly level ground so not too many hills. It is cobblestone roads so wear comfortable shoes. You would be able to much better understand the rich history of this area with a guide!

  • A fun and rewarding tour of a historic city

We had booked a guided city tour with Mr. Moritz. It was very entertaining and brought us a variety of historical facts in a very interesting way. Mr. Moritz's vast knowledge of the details of architecture and construction over the centuries was a real "eye-opener" to many details of the city's beautiful historic buildings. We will definitely come back!

Organised by Railtrail for our group on visit to the region. The guide was very knowledgeable and spoke good English. The tour lasted a good 2 hours exploring the attractive town.

  • Must do a guided tour of Goslar to see all the history and hidden gems! Best done in sneakers as it's all cobblestones!

There are so many layers to Goslar as an UNESCO World heritage town that you won't know where to start and what to see. We spent more than 90 minutes with an english-speaking guide that took us into all the narrow winding alleyways to all the main attractions and hidden gems, especially the oldest buildings. We saw special features of the architecture, learned about the history of Goslar, religion, power, art, business - so varied in its content. It was rather long and we were getting to the point where we just couldn't walk much more. There aren't many places to sit so just tell your guide when you've had enough as they are so passionate about the town that they'll happily go on. But they are highly knowledgeable and can answer just about any question anyone has.

There were no English tours to join but the Information Center were excellent in offering a self guided map (€2) with all the highlights and explanations. Although we didn’t get the full experience we loved every moment walking this beautiful historic city.

  • Highly recommended if you have two hours and want to learn a lot about Goslar

You can book the guided tour in the town hall, and in the basement of the town hall there is also a very worthwhile World Heritage exhibition (possibly better than a visit to Rammelsberg, if you don't want to go to the mountain with a Lore). The tour was divided into two groups - the tour was very interesting and you learn a lot about history and background in Goslar. The visit to the Siemens family's headquarters was very good - also the hints (e.g. at the chimes, as it is easy to overlook that the horse is moving or the Emperor nods).
