Our unique itinerary ensures you avoid the crowds by travelling in a reverse 'direction' missing the bus crowds and enjoying the softer morning light. We head straight to the 12 Apostles for a mid morning spectacle before exploring the coastline. On the way we drop in at a local 'Chocolate Farm' for Australian farm experience and some coffee or sweets.
Your expert guide will take you down to the beach along the Loch Ard Gorge and explain the dramatic shipwreck story. Then we wind our way through Otway Ranges taking in a Rainforest walk before settling into our seaside cafe and enjoying a fresh, locally inspired gourmet lunch. After lunch we take you to one of the best ice-creameries in Australia.
Afterwards traverse the Surfcoast Shire along the coastal road that meanders through beach towns and cliff edges, stopping at significant photo sights.

Great Private Tours ran a flawless operation. Our helicopter pilot was engaging, knowledgeable and most import, flew us there and back safely. We would definitely engage them again.

Garth was our tour guide and he was fabulous. He showed us all the best places, took us to see some wild koalas, wild kangaroos, tide pools, and to the cutest alpaca farm where we had delicious chocolate. We also stopped and had some incredible seafood and checked out a few gift shops. Garth was so well educated in every aspect of the great ocean road and beyond. From history to wildlife, he’s the man. He was also so friendly and easy to talk to. I couldn’t recommend him enough. Great tour and experience!!!!

We had an amazing time doing the great ocean road with Garth. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Australia, the Great Ocean Road, and especially the wildlife. Garth was able to find us 7 koalas, two kangaroos, and even stopped at a beach where we found some star fish. Garth was the man!!!

It was a pleasure to have three tours with GPT. The winvery tour, the great ocean tour & Wild Life Sanctuary Tour. It was so cool to work with the guides Alan and Mark. Also Sharon from the office was so friendly and helped us so much. I can highly recommend GTP for all in the future Sincerly Oliver from Germany

Going the reverse route is clearly the best way to go. Particularly so if Paul is your driver/guide. He was delightful. The drive is remarkably beautiful and incredibly diverse. Highly recommend

Our day spent with Steve from Great Private Tours exploring the Great Ocean Road was nothing short of spectacular! From the iconic 12 Apostles and the breathtaking Loch Ard Gorge to the serene beauty of Apollo Bay and numerous scenic stops along the way, every moment was a delight. Steve's professionalism, punctuality, and friendly demeanor made a long day feel like an adventure with an old friend. Not only did Steve ensure we saw the best views and hidden gems, but he also shared fascinating insights about each location, enriching our experience. The lunch included in our tour was fabulous, featuring delicious local cuisine that was a highlight on its own. Steve’s attention to detail and his eagerness to accommodate our interests made the entire day feel personalized and special. I'm giving this experience a solid 10+ out of 10 and would not hesitate to recommend Steve and Great Private Tours to anyone looking to explore the Great Ocean Road or any other tour. Whether you're a first-timer in Melbourne or a local wanting to see the sights through new eyes, Steve's tour is an absolute must. Thank you, Steve, for an unforgettable day! I can't wait to book another tour.

Steve was a great guide from the moment he picked us up at our hotel. By going in reverse we avoided the congested sites from tour buses and vans. We stopped to feed alpacas, toured a great wildlife sanctuary where we saw koalas in the wild, and of course the Great Ocean Road. Twelve (in name only) Apostles and Loch Ard were amazing. Steve provided excellent commentary. The vehicle was superb, veryy comfortable. I highly recommend working with Steve.

We stopped at multiple iconic spots to view the magnificent Twelve Apostles and Lord Arc Gorge. The visit to the Wildlife Wonders is particularly impressive - we got the chance to see different animals close-up while not enclosing the animals. It's really an authentic experience to get in touch with the nature. Most importantly, the warmth and kindness of Dean are really appreciated!
