Mutianyu Great Wall
Meet your guide in your Beijing hotel lobby at 7am and start the tour from visiting the Great Wall at Mutianyu. It was built and restored in the early Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), on the remnants of a wall originally built in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550–577). You will take the cable car for both ways and spend more time on the actual wall.
Site of Ming City Wall Park
Drive back the city to see the Ming City Wall Ruins Park. Drink in the park’s peaceful atmosphere and see its showpiece: the last remaining, and restored section of the 15th-century wall that once encircled Beijing. Admire the 2-kilometer Ming-era edifice, noting its brickwork and bullet holes, and climb the Southeast Corner Watchtower to see exhibitions, the largest arrow tower existing in China with 144 windows.

Angie is the absolute best guide! We were extremely lucky to have booked this wonderful tour with Angie to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Great Wall. She gave us a great overview of both the square and the Forbidden City in the morning part of the tour. We got to pass through easily into the City and she knew all the places to avoid to not get stuck like the rest of the visitors. She also does an in-depth version of the Forbidden City which I will have to do with her the next time I'm in Beijing. The Forbidden City was magnificent but the absolute highlight was the Great Wall. Having the opportunity to be able to go the private commune part of the wall and be the only people there was amazing. My wife and I and our three kids (7, 9 and 11) were so excited and had one of our best experiences vacationing here at the Wall. Highly highly recommend. The trip included a delicious Chinese lunch at the Commune hotel restaurant and our transportation was extremely comfortable and fun. The tour should have ended back at our hotel but Angie went out of her way at the end of the trip and accompanied us to local markets so we could do some souvenir shopping. She even walked us to the subway station and helped us get home afterwards even though our hotel was only two stops away. Thank you so much for being the best tour guide and best overall tour ever Angie.

Best tour I’ve had (and my husband and I travel a lot)! Joe was an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide and quickly became a friend. He took extra care to make the day special bc he knew we were celebrating my birthday. The Great Wall was breathtaking and we had the entire place to ourselves.

Be sure to ask for Joe Geng as your tour guide! Bruce was also very helpful at supervising the trip to make sure all went well. I lucked out with this great trip by WikiBeijing! I had originally signed up for the tour by myself because my flight to Beijing arrived too late in the day to join a large tour. My flight was 2 hours late and the team at WikiBeijing were able to change my pickup location and timing at each site to make my day just as spectacular as I had expected. The Commune hotel is lovely to see for the beautiful buildings by the 12 different architects....the short hike to the The Great Wall passes quickly and Joe can go at any speed which is comfortable for you. The views from this VERY private section of the Great Wall make you feel like you are the first person to have discovered this site. You get to take your time taking photos since no crowds which means plenty of time for cheesy fun. T-Square and the Forbidden City were also part of the tour and Joe did a great job of monitoring my interest level and would move on to the next site before I could get bored at any point. I have already shared this website with all of my friends on Facebook. At this point, I have been to 53 countries in the world and this was one of the best experiences to date. Book soon before too many people find out about this hidden treasure in Beijing!
