Fort Frederick
Fort Frederick stands tall in the hills of Richmond Hill, St. George; and offers a world class view of the town's harbor and surrounding areas. This site symbolizes history and the changes in power that some of the Caribbean islands experienced. It was built by the French after capturing the island from the British in 1779. The landscape and view gives one a revived appreciation for life. Fort Frederick is nicknamed the 'backward facing fort' because its cannon are facing inland rather than the sea.

I really loved going to the spice garden and the experience smelling, tasting and hearing about the Medicinal uses. Our guide, Denzel, was friendly and a great driver. Along the route he provided history and information about the island. The falls was very beautiful and we were able to take some nice shots.

Our driver, Norland was a fantastic guide and knowledgeable about most of the happenings on the Island of Grenada. We started out at Fort Frederick and our guide there: Erica was an expert in the History of the Fort and the 5 year revolution that occurred beginning in 1979. We, then, hit Laura Herb and Spice Garden and Hazel Ann led us through a culinary canopy of herbs and spices native to and available all over the world which was almost information overload and extremely interesting. Then, it was off to Tri-Island Chocolate where Chiffon explained how their chocolate was made - but in addition, she was an awesome spirited young lady who shared information about how she found this intriguing vocation of making chocolate as a profession. And, lastly, we ventured to Annandale Waterfall and Forest Park to cool off after a 92 degree day. Overall, it was a 5 hour excursion throughout the countryside surrounding the capital city of Saint George and very memorable! A wonderful educational day! We recommend this excursion to everyone who visits Grenada!

My husband and I had the best day with Stephanie exploring the island of Grenada. Stephanie was friendly and engaging. We happened to be there on the day before Independence Day and were privileged to see all of the celebrations gearing up. Stephanie was so knowledgeable about the country’s history and about today’s current events that are influencing the island. Every stop was a perfect amount of time with enjoyable conversation while traversing between locations. The communication leading up to the tour was very clear and timely. Highly recommend Explorer Grenada and an A++++++ for Stephanie!!!

Amazing experience! Derron was a great tour guide. Highly recommend doing this tour. You learn a lot and have wonderful time. The spice tour is a must. Loved eating fresh mangoes from the tree. Can’t believe this isn’t a popular tour, it needs to be!

I was surprised when it was just me and my husband on the tour, which was lovely! We got to know our guide so well! She was knowledgeable, friendly and funny! We were able to change up the order the tour a bit to avoid a lot or direct sun. She even offered to take us to the airport to get our luggage, which had been delayed. Highly recommend.

Stephanie was a very good tour guide. We were the only 2 people in her group and she was very personable and give us a lot of good information about Grenada. We enjoyed the Fort, Spice garden, and Waterfall. The Chocolate factory was a little disappointing. We expected more of a factory than a small store with an explanation of how cocoa is made into chocolate.

Absolutely wonderful! Stephanie was a delightful guide and a delightful person to spend a day with. Informative. Friendly. Upbeat. The vehicle was very clean and very comfortable. The stop at Fort Frederick was good for getting the lay of the land and a little space shopping. Seeing a wide variety of spice plants and some fruits at the spice garden was a highlight. The girl presenting at the chocolate factory was a little tongue-tied, but the samples were delicious. The waterfalls were nice and we had an excellent lunch there (and an excellent mojito). The pace was nice— never dragged, never hurried. A nice tour that Stephanie made delightful. I hope to return someday.
