I specifically booked this trip because it was advertised as 9 hours long, which was shorter than other Lake Atitlan tours and fit into the time I had available. However, when I checked with the tour operator what time we were expected to return to Antigua, they confirmed it was actually a full day tour, returning to Antigua around 7pm (making it 13/14 hours long). When I asked for a refund, as the tour wasn’t as described, the tour operator ignored my messages, so I contacted Viator who agreed it was misadvertised and gave me a full refund. I’d recommend booking a trip that is more accurately advertised or be prepared for it to be a whole day long.

This experience was absolutely worth it and one of the most memorable parts of our trip! Our guide Michael was phenomenal. He mentioned he was a newer guide, but you honestly would never be able to tell because he was so professional, confident, and incredibly knowledgeable the entire day. He made everything smooth, easy, and fun while also sharing so much meaningful context about the area. What I loved most was how local and immersive this tour felt. Having someone from the region guiding us gave us real insight into Lake Atitlán and the surrounding communities, and it made the experience feel much deeper than just sightseeing. The variety of activities was also a major highlight. Visiting the chocolate and textile factories was such a cool experience and honestly gave me a new perspective and respect for the culture and craftsmanship. Seeing the work that goes into these traditions firsthand was eye-opening and made the trip feel even more special. One thing to keep in mind: Lake Atitlán is about a 3-hour drive from Antigua, so it’s definitely a full-day adventure, but it’s completely worth it for everything you get to see and experience. Highly recommend this tour if you want a mix of beautiful scenery, culture, and authentic local experiences!
