Villarrica Volcano is the most active in Chile! It has an open crater, emanates gases in permanence and according to its activity it is possible to see magma inside its crater. It is ideal for mountaineering, for beginners or for experienced people. The view from the summit (at 2847msnm) is breathtaking and allows to observe several lakes and volcanoes.
When the volcano is snowy, the descent is done with sleds and it is possible to lower the entire volcano by sliding sitting. It is a unique experience that is not performed on any other mountain in the world!
It's currently authorized to climb to the crater!

4.00Ermitaño are a very professional agency that takes care of everything regarding the ascent - park entrance, logistics, clothing, safety, and mountaineering tools. All I had to do was arrive on time and bring my snacks, water and lunch. The climb was brutal, it's all up hill. I personally had a tough time due to a blood circulation issue in my feet as a result of the boots I had (given to me by the agency - part of their safety requirements), so keep that in mind when booking the excursion to make sure the shoes are comfortable for intensive hiking or just bring your own BOOTS (mountain shoes not normal hiking shoes). Though I didn't finish the summit, my guide Andrea stayed with me the whole time while the rest of the group continued, and made me my own slow paced and careful volcano ascent while making sure I feel OK. When I couldn't continue anymore she safely led me down the mountain. At the end of the day the guides prepared a spread of snacks and beers for all of us to enjoy.

5.00We had an amazing day. The site is beautiful. The supervision very pro , benevolent and a good contagious mood. Hyper considerate ( help to equip , very clear explanations in French , English or Spanish )! The equipment provided is of high quality and comfortable (shoes , backpack , spikes , clothes ...) We were a little afraid of the luge descent. The team reassured us and it was a very funny and nice moment. The day concludes with a very nice little aperitif. Thank you to the team for this wonderful experience!

5.00I had an amazing experience with Ermitaño Expediciones! All of the guides were really knowledgeable and kind helping you make it up to the top of the volcano. Then I was able to sled down which was really fun and made the way down go faster.

5.00A very nice experience. A day that remains memorable. The view from the top (and in the summit) is spectacular. The descent is easy in this volcanic ash, and you have the possibility to do a game of tobogganing

5.00Super motivational fun and friendly team. Lots of attention to detail and helpful with all the kit on and off the mountain. You can go at your own pace as they are relaxed about the group splitting. I broke my crampon and guide Edgar gave me his!

5.00Excellent agency, everything super well organized, after you pay they send you all the information by wsp, they do not need any technical equipment because they happen to you everything, they only ask you for long socks, glasses , sunblock, water and your food for the day. The guides are concerned about you at all times, help you with equipment, take pictures, etc. I am 51 years old and felt safe always, even in the most difficult past, thank you very much Hermit expeditions! Group of 20 people, with 7 guides super committed to their work🤗

5.00I travelled alone and decided to book three activities at Ermitaño Expediciones: - Ascent to Villarica volcano - Tour 3 somersaults - Hike Los Lagos P.N. Huerquehue All three activities were fantastic. Especially during the hikes, the guides gave you a lot of knowledge, sighted animals and felt very safe. Would book here again anytime and will keep my days in Pucon in positive memory. Thanks! 🥰
