It is worth mentioning before you proceed that any ascent of Ireland's highest mountain should only be undertaken if you feel you have the required level of fitness. You will be hiking over tough strenuous mountain terrain that does not have trails for at least 6 hours. The route is over 11 kmtrs long and within that there is 1000mtrs of ascent and decent! This was a fantastic day's walking. The booking (some months in advance) was easy and the price was very reasonable. On the day, there was a group of 9 of us and we all got on well and walked together. The route and its difficulty was as described so there were no shocks. Not to say a few gasps of fright when I saw the ridge we had to scramble over. But we were very well guided with much encouragement and advice of where to step or hold. We had flown over from the UK for this - so it was a bigger investment of time and money than many might put in - but it was 100% worth it. I'm already planning my next trip back with Kerry Climbing. PS - they gave us fantastic weather - all at not extra cost! Thank you!

Great experience from start to finish. The company very helpful with clear instructions. Our guide Piaras read the crowd as soon as we arrived and knew exactly what route to take to the summit and he made it very memorable, knowledgable, clear instructions again when needed and joined in with the banter , the lads were talking about it for days after. Many many thanks

Keith was a really relaxed but encouraging guide. I was a little nervous about doing Carrauntohill, having listened to others, but Keith made it totally manageable and, dare I say, enjoyable. I would 100% recommend to anyone considering- solo or group.

My guide Praias was very professional and fun to hang out with in the mountains. Very knowledgeable, helpful, and made sure I had a crack time. He made sure I got some photos, enjoyed the views, and taught me things about the mountains I didn’t know before. Great conversations with Praias! He was very good in adjusting our pace and made sure we were on time. I will definitely recommend Praias and Kerry Climbing again! A memorable experience climbing Carrauntoohil indeed.

Highly recommend! Myself and my wife came to Kerry for our honeymoon, and climbing Carrauntoohill was definitely the highlight of our trip! I had originally considered climbing the mountain just by ourselves but my wife convinced me to book a guide, this turned out to hands down be the best decision we made. Firstly, we actually wouldn't have been able to climb this mountain by ourselves, we didn't realise just how challenging it would be. Pierce was so incredibly knowledgeable about the mountains and we felt safe with him. He is a trained mountain rescuer and we got to witness firsthand his first aid in action. Aside from this he is an interesting man with great stories of the history of the area, the flora and fauna, facts and good vibes! If you are considering hiking this mountain, firstly you need a guide 100% and secondly, the best decision you could make is to book with Pierce. Unreal day.

What an amazing day. We had the most brilliant guide Pierce. He so much knowledge of the mountain and was so interesting to hear everything he had to say. He kept us all so safe on what can be a very tricky climb and a guide is definitely needed. Cannot overstate how amazing the guide and experience was altogether. With a great coffee and BLT waiting for us at the end in Carrountoohill Hut
