A small hill station, also known as mini Tibet in India, is home to Tibetans and also the seat of exiled Tibetan government. The small town is unlike any other Indian city or hill station: monks in red robes, elderly with their prayer beads, inquisitive tourists roaming the streets, and the aroma of the Tibetan food in the background. To a first-timer, life in Mcleod Ganj and its treasures might seem straight out of a storybook.

  • Best day in India so far!!

My husband and I have been travelling around India for almost 4 weeks and have had many guides. No tour and no guide even came close to our extraordinary experience today with Vikram. After going to the Dalai Lama temple, which wonderful, due to a conference that was going on today, some of the activities on the itinerary were not open. Also, we had previously already done one of the other activities on our own. Vikram asked what we would like to do and came up with a plan. Turned out to be the most extraordinary day, We had the most wonderful walk through a town that was about half an hour away and as an added bonus, visited with two authentic Indian families. We prefer visiting and talking to locals over museums and temples, so this was a huge treat for us. This was a version of one of the other tours that this company offers that I can’t recommend highly enough! It’s called their Nomadic Culture and Nature walk. While the activities of the day were wonderful and memorable, what made it even more special was getting to spend time with Vikram and having him be our guide. It felt like we were exploring Dharamshala with a highly knowledgable local friend. His English is perfect, and he is simply a joy to be with. I can’t recommend this tour and this tour company highly enough. If I could give it a 10 star rating, I would.

  • Unmissable if you want to make sense of McLeodGanj and the Tibetan people.

A really interesting and informative excursion during which I learnt so much! We took in temples, the Tibetan Museum and the Dalai Lama's residence complex. We went to the seat of the Tibetan Government in exile and saw the most amazing archives of ancient manuscripts. We walked down forested pathways and saw monkeys and Tibetan Prayer Wheels. For the first time I really understand the Mantras. Lunch was taken in a small restaurant in the Government compound and I chose the best momos of my stay in India so far. Brilliant! As a solo woman, I choose guides and excursions carefully. This choice was perfect.

Without a plan and with little knowledge about the place and Tibetan Buddhism I ended up in Mc LoadGanj. I am very grateful that I spent this day with guide Onkar. An experienced friendly nice guide with a wealth of history and cultural knowledge. I learned a lot. Many seeds were planted. The experience of being here is much more layered after this tour and its sets a good foundation to build on. I love it. Highly recommended. Kind regards, Melissa

Had an amazing time with Mr Ashok! I learned so much and was, therefore, able to appreciate Dharamshala and the Tibetan community here much more deeply. Of course, you could visit all of these sites on your own, but without the extensive knowledge of a guide, like Mr. Ashok, you wouldn’t truly understand the magic and beauty that is this special place. He answered all my many questions and knows all the shortcuts! I highly recommend this tour!

A wonderful tour, highly recommended. Very difficult area to get around on your own so assistance invaluable. Magnificent scenery everywhere, waterfall, lake, Buddhist temples, tea garden, even a tiny Anglican church and all at your own pace. Not to be missed
