Come and visit the Lagoa de Óbidos with who really knows it.
On kayak (or SUP), through the islands, sand banks and the nooks of the Lagoon, or in a small hike through the ancient tracks hidden by the vegetation along the banks of the Óbidos Lagoon, join one of our nature tours and have fun while you explore this “thousand-years old” estuary.
Come alone, bring some friends, girlfriend or boyfriend, family and children, bring your dog … come as you wish, but come with the certainty that you will have an amazing day!
All our activities are carried out safe, stable and comfortable kayaks and accompanied by one or two local certified kayak guides.

What To Expect
Lagoa de Obidos
Make a true “Expedition” in the Óbidos Lagoon that includes a Kayak tour (and maybe a small hike). Where you will learn about Local History and Traditions, Marine life identification*, Birdwatching, and Edible Seaweed and Plants. If the tides and conditions permit, you will learn how to catch shellfish using traditional techniques (catch & release)
Praia da Foz do Arelho
Usually boardings start and end in the beautiful beach of Foz do Arelho, (Lagoon)

5.00Kayaking tour on Obidos Lagoon. After the safety and technical instructions, we leave with the guide to discover the fauna and flora of the lagoon. The guide is French-speaking, and has a good grasp of his subject. He brings his explanations to life, and it's a pleasure to listen to him. A walk with family or friends to discover the ecosystem of the lagoon while paddling from one spot to another.

5.00We had a wonderful morning with Miguel who was incredibly knowledgeable about the plants, wildlife and history of the area. Highlights included learning about edible lagoon plants, beachcombing and meeting local fisherman and learning about their traditional fishing techniques. Thank you Intertidal!

5.00We shared a wonderful afternoon with Miguel on the lagoon in kayaks having never done this before. Miguel’s knowledge of the lagoon, sea life & history was very interesting. Even my 77 year old mum coped under his guidance and we felt very safe. Will definitely be booking more trips. Thanks Miguel.

5.00Miguel explained how to manage the kayak and the route we would take, then we had a really fun time taking our kayaks around the lagoon. We went across to a small island and explored the shorelines there, Miguel showed us some of the sea life such as green crabs, hermit crabs, molluscs, seaweed, samphire, and told us about some of the other sea life he had seen in the lagoon. He explained the history of the lagoon including his own research into the historic names used by the fishermen and the local customs and traditions, he was also able to show us the traditional fishing boats and a clam-diver on the Obidos shore. He was really knowledgeable and fun to listen to and he made it interesting for all of the kids on the trip. Would definitely recommend this and would love to do it again.

5.00We had a wonderful afternoon kayaking around the lagoon. Miguel is a fantastic guide; super friendly and very knowledgeable about the lagoon. He’s a marine biologist by background and has a deep love of the lagoon having grown up here. I only wish we could have spent more time with him.

5.00Fantastic tour with Intertidal. Miguel was an excellent tour guide bringing us around Lagoa de Óbidos and catering for all abilities. He has an excellent knowledge of the area both on land & in the water. He was very engaging with the kids, teaching them about the lagoon’s fish, molluscs and birds with great passion. Highly recommend an Intertidal tour during your stay in Óbidos.

5.00Miguel was a perfect guide/host. He used his immaculate English to guide my family through the safety aspects of Kayaking, and when on the water he showed his wealth of knowledge about the wildlife and ecosystems around the lagoon. My sons got to find and hold a few crabs, then try some fresh samphire which grown on the sand bars. We loved visiting the restored village, and learning the history of the region too. Miguel shepherded my family back to the set off point expertly. It was a fabulous experience that will live very long in our memories. I cannot recommend Miguel and his tours highly enough. Thank you ❤️ The Bartholomews
