Ian and Julian were amazing. So about an hr drive to the country side. Then an exciting 1 hr ride on a boat up river. Then you emerge in the jungle to a dock and explore 3 pyramids and some other structures. Saw some howler monkeys and ate some real deal Belizean food buffet style. Then back on the boat for a jungle cruise and drive home. My wife and I had an incredible time and would recommend this trip. The staff was so friendly, told us about the local culture and were very informative about the ruins. Don't pass on this trip. It is a blast!

The Lamanai tour itself was great. Other parts of this tour are sketchy. The six-seat van is highly uncomfortable if you are squished between two other people in the back bench. The (rude) driver routinely crossed over double lines to pass other vehicles. He offered zero information or details along the way. The boat ride (one hour each way, often at very high speeds) did not feature safety vests. Perhaps a remedial course in customer service and safety is needed?

Really cool tour! We were picked up at the ferry port in Belize City, as arranged, in a comfortable air conditioned van. We drove about an hour to the boat launch spot in Orange walk. The driver was friendly and gave us a lot of interesting information about Belize along the drive. At the launch spot there are restrooms and possibly water. Once everyone was there, maybe about 12 guests our capitan and tour guide, Ian, loaded us up in the small boat and we headed out on the river! The river ride was fun and exciting! Its a relatively small boat but a very smooth ride. There is some shade but not too much so be prepared to cover your skin. We saw a lot of interesting birds, and some bats, and 1 dead crocodile. The boat ride was about an hour, and we were the first ones to arrive at the site which was pretty great! This small operation can get you going early and quickly! We proceeded through the jungle to tour the ruins. We again saw a lot of interesting birds and a troupe of howler monkeys napping in the shade! There are some areas that you can climb, and you can go up to the top of 2 temples. After a fun, informative tour of about 1.5 hours, we met up at a picnic shelter for lunch. It was absolutely delicious, buffet style, traditional Belizean rice and beans, stewed chicken, fried plantains, and a couple other sides. Ian said his mom was the cook! we had a little while to shop at the souvenir shops, which seemed to be actual small businesses, which was cool. We had another fun and slightly quicker boat ride back, as we didn't do as much bird watching. The shuttle was able to drop us off at our hotel in Ladyville, and we were able to make a quick stop at a grocery store for drinks and snacks. All in all great experience! I would recommend this trip to anyone! There was a wide age and ability range on our trip. One lady was in her 70s, one girl was probably late teens. I will mention that this trip is an all day adventure. We were very glad to be dropped at our hotel around 3. Some other people in our group went a few days earlier, and they went all the way from and back to caye caulker, which made for a very long and exhausting day for them. So if possible, I recommend doing this trip either at the start or end of your trip, as it is relatively close to the airport, and staying somewhere near the airport!

Loved the boat ride on the New River. Though I wish the boat had seats with backs and a Bimini. Saw a lot of wildlife. Our guide was really good on the water and at the archeology site. It was very hot and humid and we really appreciated that the trails were very shady. The food provided was typical Belizian food and delicious. Highly recommend.

This is a top notch tour and Olio, our driver was awesome, as well as, Ian, our tour guide! Ian got us to the site before the cruise ship tours arrived and we basically had the site to ourselves. The boat ride to the site was phenomenal, and we were able to see many wildlife along the way! The site is gorgeous and definitely worth visiting! Ian's mother made us lunch and it was delicious! Thank you for a memorable and fantastic day!!

Despite a big delay during the morning pickups (2 people waiting for all the other participants for 45 minutes), the rest was perfect.
